At what point do you reveal to a person you’re dating that you have bipolar?
I’m dating a new guy I really like. I have a slight tendency to over share so I’d like to hear other people’s perspectives. We’re both looking for a long-term relationship. I can tell he’s really serious about that, which is a huge plus for me. I am pretty stable right now because my medications are working well. I have been euthymic for the whole part of November and part of October thanks to new meds, which is why I jumped into dating again. I just have no idea when I should tell him if things end up working out between us (it’s still very early). Thanks.
Update: I took a lot of you all’s advice and told him at an appropriate time during our second date today. It went really well, and he confided in me about some of his own mental health stuff he had going on in the past. He was a little confused about what bipolar was so I explained it to him and also told him I was type 2, which meant that I don’t present as the typical bipolar does with the really high highs. We have our third date planned already and he is already asking about what he should do during my lows and what helps me the most and stuff. Thanks so much for the advice guys, this is a great community and I am so grateful for your help! :)
