How bad is the flooding where you live?

I live at the Henault - East Flanders border. I'm not impacted (yet), but I have a feeling a lot of people near me are. Some friends have water in their basement. The river near me was really high this afternoon, some neighboring gardens were starting to get flooded.

Edit: Doesn't seem as bad as I thought. Can stop building my ark.

I live near brussels and its pretty bad here. I had to drive through several streets that looked more like a river than anything and I've seen about 5 trees lying across the road because they fell down.

The other trees just needed a short nap.

Leuven, no flooding

My washing machine flowed over because the sewer was overloaded. So there was flooding on my 1st floor, dripping down to my ground floor. :(

So some flooding in Leuven.

Wow odd because leuven has a pump system in their sewers! Also, what a crappy dishwasher :p

All I know is that a few years back they put huge pipes below our street, but I've since had a few issues with upwelling groundwater and today sinks and drains that flowed over. It really did rain hard, but it has been worse.

You live around Sint-Maartensdal?

I live in Antwerp. No flooding in my neighboorhood but some people's gardens or streets are flooded here.

Genk, Limburg, nothing :) but a friend from Ramsel said she could row a boat in her garden

I'm from Begijnenijk, next to Ramsel. Not even a puddle here, but I know someone from Ramsel and she said that 'Ramsel is drowing'...

There's flooding? I haven't noticed anything, and I live right next to the Leie.

2
XirkanderOP•

it's probably because they empty the Leie in someones backyard downstream of you. :)

I hadn't been following the news, so I had no idea it rained so much it was flooding. After reading the relevant media it seems to be pretty bad in places, and the Leie seems to be flowing harder than usual.

I guess it also explains why there's so much coming and going at the fire station down the street.

Near the Grote Gete no flooding as far as I can see. But it hasn't been raining all that hard, just a constant drizzle.

Living near Diksmuide. Had some wind and a little damage was done to our garden. You can see some small flooding in the fields, but that's about it.

Living in Deurne, Antwerp. Nearby terminus for trams is flooded.

Deurne, I was born there. So I feel for the trams.

So that explains why I saw tram 8 and 24 following the wrong routes today...

Oostende: absolutely nothing here. Didn't even rain all that hard here, more of a continuous drizzle. It's been dry for over an hour now.

I love the coastal micro-climate :D

We'll get the last laugh when the sea rises. :)

Puh, we have dikes that are, like, 2 meters high and stuff! Beat that, global warming!

Geel here, small amount of water in the cellar but that tends to happen really easily. Nothing extreme like I've seen on the news..

TIL most of r/Belgium is Flemish.

Liège here, quite a few bars downtown had water in the cellar, and the Amblève river was very high. Nothing serious though, and it's mostly over now.

Living near Halle. Nothing at my place, but direction Halle (Lot) most of the roads are closed (should be better today). They have it pretty bad over there.
