I'd like to address the recent ads that you guys have come up with depicting women being touched inappropriately by the TSA.

I posted http://i.imgur.com/Ut3ic.jpg picture to my facebook and an intellectual friend of mine (albeit it is notable to mention she is a feminist) and she had a response to it:

Uncool things about this image: likening ineffective body searches to rape. Using the concept of serious shit like sexual assault for unrelated propaganda.

I think is an actual issue to consider. At some point the amount of propaganda in these ads seems to liken sexual assault and body searches far too closely together. Exaggeration is natural when it comes to persuasive advertising, but this borderlines on hyperbolic and offensive.

Thoughts?

Edit: I'd like to point out that neither I nor my friend are arguing against this poster as a whole. She has seen this thread and put thought into the responses you guys have given and you have swayed her. However, I would like to reiterate and remind you all that working towards any cause means carefully examining your methodology and determining whether or not your actions are appropriate. Even if they are appropriate, it's best to consider possible consequences and the potential reception of such actions so that your cause may be properly furthered. I urge us all to really think about the messages we are trying to send versus the ones we are actually sending and to check for congruency between the two; if we do so, I believe we can be successful in the future abolition of the TSA and/or the creation of more dignified security procedures!
