Bradish has great numbers for the California League. Brnovich and Peek were drafted very high last year but didn’t play rookie ball. Both have starting potential with good talent. Really like this move by Elias

Yeah I’m still in the “giving my unabated benefit of the doubt to Elias” phase so I’m good with this.

My sentiments exactly. I did scratch my head at Villar though.

Well according to Trezza on orioles.com, he strikes out more than 10 batters per inning, so that’s seriously unprecedented! https://i.imgur.com/MFgxowB.jpg

Brnovich and Peek were drafted very high last year

"Very high" would refer to someone taken in the first two rounds whereas Peek was taken in the sixth round and Brnovich was taken in the eighth. Less than a quarter of players taken in the sixth round ever reach the major leagues, about ten percent stay up for at least three years, and less than one percent reach 10+ WAR during their careers. The reality is that all four of these pitchers were outside the Angels' top 25 prospects, which isn't a strong farm system to begin with, but that's to be expected when you're giving up one year of a mediocre starting pitcher and choosing quantity over quality in the return.

The 6th round and 8th round are pretty high. That’s 6 and 8 out of 40. All 4 players were the quality. Not much else Elias could’ve done.

It's just not. Statistical analysis of MLB draft history tells us that there is more of a gap in talent between first rounders and 6th rounders than there is between 6th rounders and 40th rounders. For the record, I'm not bashing Elias here, I'm just trying to prevent people from getting their hopes up to unrealistic levels.

Ok. Regardless, Elias got some good talent here. Bundy has little to no value here. Get what you can.

If rebuilds are all about finding lottery picks of future value in exchange for current players that won’t do jack on your team, I’d say this was a good deal.

AzbornOP•

Yeah. All players have potential of contributing to the future of the O’s.

Exactly. This trade is in the same vein as the Cashner deal. No one is trading a top org guy for a Bundy or a Cashner, BUT you can get lotto guys that have ceilings to eventually be impact MLB players if you’re willing to take a chance on inexperience.

Love it - prospect accumulation.

Yep. Never can have enough pitching. NEVER

As the great Ben Maller says "Prospects are just suspects until proven otherwise."

The 16 inning game is still going. Congrats on offloading Bundy.

Now we have Kyle Bradish, Kyle Brnovich, Zach Peek and Zach Pop. Have there ever been a team with 2 sets of names that were that similar to each other?

Peek and Pop, sounds like a sideshow duo. Move over Pen and Teller.

It’s a good haul. I could see Bundy having success on the Angels, but I don’t think he would have ever really figured it out without a change in scenery.

And just like that Dylan Bundy now is a potential Cy Young.
