Its telling us what most vape users have known for awhile, combustion bad for your health, vaping slightly better in moderation, keep temps as low as possible to avoid combusting cannabanoids and terpenes. The headline comes from them burning terpenes and gathering the by products, but herb vapers usually do their best to avoid combustion so its kind of a moot point. The actual study reads different than the glorified blog post about the study.

But some experts have wondered whether terpenes also play a role, said Dr. Mangala Narasimhan, regional director of critical care medicine at Northwell Health in New Hyde Park, N.Y.

"That's what everyone is talking about now, that some of this might be the terpenes being burned at such high temperatures and us not knowing what the side effects are," she said.

From study

Overall, gas-phase aerosol products had significantly lower values in dabbing and vaporizing compared to cannabis smoking, although these results should be interpreted in light of potential variations in degradant levels due to disparate usage patterns and the dangers of the higher aerosol concentration of THC.

Edit: removed my dry herb vaping "propaganda" so Bassick doesnt need to cry anymore.

Pardon me, propaganda? What agenda am I pushing?

I summarized the article and offered a direct quote from the study and the article.

By bringing up your little dry herb vape, no one cares if you vape herb. The article/study is on vape pens containing cannabis extracts not whether dry herb vaping is safer than combustion

Read the second quote dough head.

This article does not even say what temperature they used or if they tested at various temps.

There was a reaserch article (google) that basically showed that terpenes only created toxic chemicals when burned above around 700F. That is why a dab rig with accurate temp controls and low temp dabs are a must for health reasons.

Kind of a shitty study if they did not evaluate this.

News article is summarizing this study.

Study: terpenes can release carcinogens when heated at high heat, vaporizing is lower heat than smoking thus heathier than smoking

Journalists: vaporizing terpenes causes cancer

Do the pens with real cannabis terps cause the same damage as the more common variety which are infused with food grade terps?

Terps are terps. On a molecular level they are the same. You can just find more than we can test for in the cannabis plant.
