Took our pregnancy announcement photo at Copper. Missing this season is rough, but can't wait to get the little one on the mountain in a few years!

This is the cutest thing ever, congratulations!!!
Congrats, but, if the baby isn't coming until spring I'd pack in as many days as possible between now and then. I have experience in this realm.
It now occurs to me that a woman may have posted this and therefore it may be inadvisable to ski whilst very pregnant. My apologies...
I wish. The doctors told me my cut-off point is mid-December (so essentially this weekend, but I've been super sick the past week and a half). Plus, the one day we did get in, I was wearing my pants unbuttoned (and that was a month ago, I've gotten a lot bigger since then, so don't even know if I could pull them up at this point). I'm just hoping for 1. an easy delivery and 2. That A Basin stays open until July again so I can maybe get some late season in this year. Our friends still plan to make sure my husband gets plenty of use out of his pass and new skis this year though.
How many weeks/months in is typically the cut-off point?
It really depends on your doctor. A lot of them will just put a blanket "no skiing" statement in effect. Since I live in the Denver metro area, I think they're more used to women who want to keep skiing and are thus, more liberal with their recommendations.
I was told once my bump becomes prominent to stop, and to go no later than mid-December (20 weeks, much longer than I was expecting them to allow). I was also told to stay on terrain that is easy for me and to avoid falling at all costs (the day we went out for the announcement photos, our friends and my husband essentially made a human shield around me to take the hit from any out of control skiers who may be at risk of crashing into me. It was also REALLY hard to monitor my own skiing as I had to keep reminding myself, "yes, this is an easy run. No, I should not be racing down this groomer at 40+ mph because if on the off chance I do catch an edge and fall, it'll be worse for the baby"). Before the bump pops, the baby is pretty well protected in there. As baby gets bigger, there is less protection from impact, and an impact can result in much more serious consequences (i.e., placental abruption). Also, as you get bigger, your center of balance begins to change, which can make you more prone to a fall.
If I were to choose when to get pregnant, I would definitely aim for late January/February (due date in October/November). You can finish up most of the winter before you begin to show, and have baby and recover before the snow gets really good for the next season. Unfortunately though, it's not always so easy to plan exactly when you're going to get pregnant.
My doctor said I could ski as long as my pants fit. She made sure to determine that I was a competent skier first.
I went skiing the next week and it was all I could do not to vomit soooooo... that was the end of that experiment!
Since you mentioned A-Basin, do you know of the super secret room up top of the base lodge that has changing table, couches and foam toys for kids to play with?
I do! It's really not that super secret. Overheard one of the hosts at the base area directing a family with a screaming toddler there last season. Thanks for the reminder though!
Yeah, just check out Julia Mancusos Instagram from last season.
Brilliant idea!!
Congrats
How do the sick days ride?
The only important question here
Those are my husband's, so I can't say personally. He's only gotten one day out of them so far (they were his Birthday present this year, but we found out I was pregnant 2 days before that so he hasn't gotten to ski nearly as much as planned. Once we get through the holidays, I'll have to make our friends take him out more). He loves them so far though! If it's any consolation, I'm obsessed with my Pandoras (the women's version of the Sick Days), which is why I chose to get him the Sick Days for his Birthday.
Good to hear, thinking about picking up the 104s. I hope everything with the new skier goes smoothly.
The 104s are my daily driver and I absolutely love them.
I've had the same pair for about 5 years now. Great pair of skis.
They're a bit narrow for really deep powder so you have to work a bit to keep them up. But I've found they're great all-mountain skis in general. Would definitely recommend them if you're looking for an all purpose ski. I picked them up after riding true twins for about 10 years, but wanted something less park oriented(just getting old here) and more all mountain oriented. They still hold up fine in the park but are definitely easier to ride.
Teaching your kids to ski will be the most frustrating and difficult things you ever do. But it’s so worth it! And being on the mountain with the people you love...it’s sublime.
I taught my 4 little rippers how to ski when they were all 2 years old. It was not frustrating or difficult.
BTW, good luck with the pregnancy.
Honestly teaching anybody of any age is so frustrating hahah I don’t think I’m cut out to be any sort of teacher
Ha ha! I’m sure you’re good. I don’t think this guy’s memory is very good.
I have a degree in elementary education and have worked in childcare (age 2-9) in the past, so I'm pretty excited to be dealing with teaching my own kid my favorite hobby. I hear bribery with candy and Oreos goes a LONG way. Also, do what the kid wants. They wanna lay on the ground and make snow angels, we lay on the ground and make snow angels. If they want hot chocolate, we get hot chocolate. Anything to help her fall in love with this hobby.
Also pregnant this season and sad to miss this winter but bolstered by the idea of having a little ripper soon!! Love this announcement!
A Line ski family!! Love the skis guys! Enjoy teaching the little one.
This is so cute :) Congrats and I hope everything will be all right
Cute announcement! Congrats!

Awesome idea! Congrats!
I hate announcement photos but this one is great. Congrats!
Spring 2020?
Missing a season?
C'mon, everyone I know is skiing into their 8th month at least.
Congratulations!!! Sweetest announcement. You’ll be back on the hill in no time.
I love this! So adorable
You’re doing it wrong. Line is the baby ski brand of K2
No exploding balloons or drones? I like it! If you do a gender reveal, I hope it's equally understated.
No gender reveal from us. Her genitals really don’t matter much in the grand scheme of things.
*its
Their*. Assuming you were trying to be gender neutral.
Twins confirmed!
