Hive Minds make no sense to me.
I mean, the flood was a pretty well-done hivemind, also the Tyranids. but the thing is when a hive has split and stretched its colony that much. and if their multiple queens, then the queens still don't listen, to the mother, they will leave and create their own colony, and that colony will mutate and turn into a different species of that kind, and they wage war against the colony they came from. that means if the Tyranids all rely on 1 queen, that 1 queen won't be able to command that size, and most of the ants go mindless since the queen can't reach or get to him. so if a hivemind was that large, it must have multiple queens, but multiple queens mean more independent minds and more that will sprout themselves, and become their own empire.
I don't know much about hiveminds, but it's just that they should actually be fractured into multiple colonies. like, imagine all the ants were one big supercolony. it's impossible from the queen's perspective. I do like the idea, but it's just that it would be cooler to have hiveminds having constant civil wars, and growing and making more colonies.
that's why I don't like hiveminds, they should show the realistic ways, its much better or if they are some hivemind species like that in any books, then please show the name so I can read it?
