Dog gets too distracted to go potty, but only at night?!
I have a 10 month old greyhound staffie mix, and some nights she just WONT go potty no matter how long I walk with her because she gets distracted by every little noise, she will be in her pooping position and hear a car or someone talking from inside and she will stop immediately. It’s very strange because during the day she doesn’t take notice to the little things like she does at night.
It upsets me because she has an anal gland problem, if she holds her poop for even a little, she starts leaking from her bottom, so obviously I am forced to make her sleep in her crate (she’s very comfortable with her crate We both would just rather her sleep with me) I would like to point out that she never has full on accidents.
I have tried the method of taking her out and if she doesn’t go trying again in 20 minutes, and ever since she was fully potty trained I still tell her “good girl, go potty!” Is there another way I can train her to go potty on command or even a way to make her less distracted? I hate making her spend the night in her crate :(
