The price of food/snacks at cinemas are preposterous.

I could be wrong and maybe the prices are more reasonable in other countries. Sadly, that's not the case where I live. Don't get me wrong, I truly enjoy going to the cinema in general. I just don't understand why they would mark up their food prices to such ridiculous extents.

A cinema near me recently released a "M&M Popcorn" combo which, when seen in the menu, is basically a box of popcorn with M&Ms mixed inside + a regular drink. I bought it and the concession guy simply handed me a box of popcorn and a separate packet of M&Ms. Not even mixed together.

The price of the "M&M" combo was $24 whereas getting a regular popcorn combo+ drink is $14. That's a difference of $10 just for a small packet of M&Ms... The absurdity was real and I couldn't do anything about it. These crazy prices are, without a doubt, the biggest reason people rather smuggle their own snacks in.
