Having trouble with GloSC and steam overlay for radial menus

Trying to get steam controller to work for KhanAcademy, as such I have two radial menus - 1 for symbols and 1 for numbers. The problem is, I cannot see the radial menus at all (or notifications for switching action sets).

On GloSC, I've checkmarked 'Enable Overlay' and in Steam I have 'Enable Overlay on non-Steam Game,' 'Use the Big Picture Overlay when using a Steam Input enabled controller from the desktop,' and 'Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game.' When I run the GloSC profile from within big picture, I press the windows key to click on my browser, then the GloSC profile window on my taskbar. I have tried this with and without minimizing big picture mode. Is there anything I'm missing or doing wrong? Any advice would be appreciated.
