Am I being too unrealistic?
I'm attempting to transfer to a better school for CS & math. I'm at IU rn and came in as a Kelley student. I realized that I didn't want to do finance and that I enjoy CS & Math much more. I'm probably going to end this semester with 3.8-3.9ish GPA. Ive taken intro CS and Calc - I will guaranteed get an A in CS & either an A- or B+ in calc. I've dropped my initial finance major and I'm taking an honors calc II class and 3 CS classes next semester. My SAT score is 1510 (730 E&W, 780 Math). My grades from HS are terrible though: I had a 5.075/5 GPA (weird grade boost system) but had several Cs and Ds with one F. I'm also an Asian male.
I'm trying to apply to
- UIUC (CS + Math in LAS) (Note: I live in Illinois)
- UMich (CS in LAS)
- U Wisconsin (CS in engineering school)
- UChicago (CS)
- Northwestern (CS in Las)
Do I stand any chance for any of these colleges? I'm hoping that my performance in college will show that I've grown since HS, but obviously these colleges are brutally competitive. I've also decided to apply for LAS where possible instead of the engineering school, because it seems a bit more easy to get in and it would likely allow for more flexibility in taking math classes and hopefully double majoring. Thanks for your time if you're reading this :)
