Same day change at checkin is at most 75$, free if you’re UA elite (Gold and above only I believe).  You can also look at the Turkish and Lufthansa lounges at IAD but I’m not sure  if they require Star Gold or if they are accessible from the domestic gates.

Nah lounge access isn’t essential since I visited the Polaris lounge in EWR on my way to TLV (which was amazing!!!).

It’s more since my layover is from 6am-8am and I’d prefer to not sit in the terminal if possible. Plus they want $3,000 for me to change my flight...

Yes if all UA.  No Polaris lounge at IAD yet, so consider same day changing to the Newark flight if lounge access is important.  The UA Club at IAD is meh (as is the Dan Club in TLV).

It would be *very* punitive if a Y segment on a regional jet removed your lounge access for the rest of the trip, since United’s CR2s and E145s don’t have any other class of seating.

Not usually, since GoSh4ks (assuming this is NHL, hope the Canucks smoke you tonight!) is 1k and says yes, I'd go with his/her advice.  But in my experience your OUTBOUND leg needs to be in J or with status, unless it's an arrival lounge like LHR, but I don't think IAD has one of those.  Best of luck :)

Yeah I flew JAX-TLV via EWR and the Polaris lounge was amazing! 

Unfortunately they want $3,000 for some reason to change my flight since i paid cash for the original flight...so the IAD lounge will work.

Yes, but the United Clubs at IAD suck! If you can change to TLV-EWR you'd be able to use the much superior Polaris lounge.

I just used Polaris lounge in SFO after coming in on intl business and before flying from SFO domestic economy (same itinerary).  I gave them my inbound boarding pass and they didn't question it.

That’s the star alliance rule, yes, but United adds on that if your long haul is United, then you get it for the entire journey. But this only applies to United Clubs/Polaris Lounge (which is not yet open in IAD). No access to other Star Alliance lounges.

Yes, and worth mentioning this is one reason why I dislike Star alliance for award travel. If you were flying OneWorld then you would have lounge access for the entire trip based on the highest class of travel of any flight, not simply the next one in sequence.

I've given them the business class ticket and they were fine with me getting in the lounge.

In my experience, yes in TLV, no in IAD. The class of the next sector is relevant for lounge access, not the previous.

I’m flying from TLV-JAX with a layover in IAD. The TLV-IAD segment is in J and the IAD-JAX segment is in Y (flying an ERJ 145).

Would i be able to access a United Club with the international segment being in J?
