As a Star Wars fan, The Mandalorian has been a let down. People are treating it like it’s some masterpiece and it really isn’t.
The Mandalorian is extremely overrated. Let me start by saying what I like.
Pedro Pascal does a great job as Mando and Baby Yoda is for sure the best thing about the show. The main story arc is great and the relationship between Mando and the child is smart.
The action sequences are super cool and well done.
That’s really it honestly, so far I have been disappointed.
My first big criticism is how the story has been unraveling. Nothing has really unraveled yet. The story has been very dry. When a problem arises it gets resolved within the same episode. Mando flys off in his ship safely every time. I want to see Mando and Baby Yodas relationship progress more. I want to see more conflict. Mando needs to fuck up big or something. The last two episodes didn’t progress the story at all. Mando goes out with a young bounty hunter to get a bounty. Kid dies and target dies, Mando fly’s off. This last episode nothing happened really either.
The acting is sub par for a Star Wars production. Pedro Pascal is the only actor that has impressed me and he’s wearing a fucking helmet. The mercenaries last night (ep. 6) I could care less about. The penis head characters tried being all menacing and feral but just made it cringe. Hellboy didn’t do anything but be the big scary dude. Bill Burr did fine actually but it was distracting initially because he’s Bill Burr. The writing failed to make me care about them. The bone broth server (ep .4) was not a good actor at all. The mechanic lady that watched baby yoda (ep. 5) should get an Emmy for worst actor in a big budget show. You would think they’d get some better actors for a Star Wars show.
Lastly, the writing is weak. “I have spoken,” “this is the way.” Really? This are the most creative sayings you could give your characters? Game of Thrones is a great example of how sayings and slogans should be. “This is the way” is lazy and honestly kinda funny it’s so bad. The “I have spoken” dude just pissed me off, The whole Blurrg part could have been cut. It didn’t contribute or enhance the storyline at all.
I could keep going but I’m tired. Like if you agree and add on.
