Thanku !!! It’s kinda based off exaggerated self portraits, I struggled with psychosis for a minute and saw crazy bug heads on me in the mirror at one point so used it as the subject of my art!!! Mental health has gotten way better but still really inspired me to create this.

The tile and palms and color scheme look SUUUUUPER familiar to me. But I can’t remember the artist that paints with these motifs. The artist also incorporates le croix in their pieces as well. Lol

What is your artist statement attached to these pieces?

Oh man!! I’m new to the art world and have never written an artist statement before, but basically I went though a hard time with my mental health, constantly saw hallucinations of bee heads covering my own in the mirror (I’m allergic to bees). A few years later, I’m doing much better and wanted to put a positive light on that hard time to inspire this series. So it’s sort of a exaggerated self portrait series, where I’m taking selfies in the mirror of this bug head. I wanted to turn it into something beautiful! Thanku for asking <3

YES EXACTLY i noticed it was a bee head and tried to take a pic on my phone to show others, to see if i was crazy or not haha. Plot twist—i was a little bit lmao
