Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Connectivity Issues

Recently just bought a Note 8 and have been encountering a very interesting issue where my connection keeps cutting off during use... Xiaomi has this option where the data rate can be displayed and I can see the connection disappear to 0KB/s during use. When I close the app I am on and reopen it, it works for awhile and the same thing happens. This happens on all games and even when I'm scrolling through social media (basically everything).

Additionally, this happens on both WIFI and mobile data so it probably isn't the networks' issue.

Currently on MIUI 11.0.3.0.

Need advice please...
