Build Help

###Build Help/Ready:

Have you read the sidebar and rules? (Please do)

Yes, I have.

What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better.

This is intended for gaming pretty much exclusively. I'm not playing the most graphical games but I want the machine ready to handle those as needed.

If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, framerate, game settings)

I mainly play processor-heavy games like EU4 or Stellaris, so I'm hoping that the beefier processor will get those running smoothly and speedily throughout. I want to get solid 1440p (and eventually get to 4k) on anything I play, and make the most of my 144hz monitor when I do play a handful of more graphically intensive games like heavily modded Skyrim. Down the road a little bit I want to get into VR gaming, eyeballing Half-Life Alyx. Also I want to future proof. Ideally I won't do more than maybe a round of 4k upgrades until sometime after 2025.

What is your budget (ballpark is okay)?

I could go a bit higher, say $2500, if there were better components for what I'm looking to do.

In what country are you purchasing your parts?

US, near Portland, Oregon.

Post a draft of your potential build here (specific parts please). Consider formatting your parts list. Don't ask to be spoonfed a build (read the rules!).

You play the same games I do, very heavily modded Skyrim... yep that will eat up HD space. Personally I'd drop the H100i and go for an air cooler why put your system at risk of a leak . The extra $ spent on the H100i can go elsweyr.

As for the 3800x , well it's about 100hz faster then a 3700x (

The $ you save between the cooler and the cpu can be put towards faster ram. Sweet 3600

Thanks! I read an article about RAM speeds that suggested it doesn't make a huge difference overall. Is it really worth it to go for a higher speed?

elsweyr

I see what you did theyr.

All reports I've seen suggest AMD cpu do benefit from higher ram speed and if your willing to adjust the timings you could squeeze further performance. I remember a thread on Lover's Lab talking about FO4 and that it performs better with higher ram speeds, though that was ddr3. Also higher speed ram is much easier to sell and for more $ when ddr4 runs dry. Either way you've got a nicely specked out machine.
