Better battery for infinus

So I’m considering picking up an infinus and giving it some light modding. I don’t care about increasing FPS or rate of fire, I just want to use a rechargeable battery. Is this as simple as getting a step down board to provide the expected 6 volts or am I missing something?

As long as you isolate your two circuits and ensure the board doesn't get more than stock voltage (if that's 6v, then 6v), then you're good to go.

Dump NiMHs in with aa to d adapters

Didn't work for me with my Eneloops and Eneloop adapters. The blaster would work for a while, then it would power down. I'd have to reopen the battery panel, fiddle with the batteries and adapters a bit and it would sometimes start working again. So YMMV.

I was never intending to use it this way, I had just put the AA's with adapters in so I could play around with the Infinus while my non-LSD NiMH D Cells charged up. It's been flawless when powered by NiMH D-cells.

However, the chargers for higher current (>1 A per channel) NiMH D-cells are kind of pricey.

Whats a non LSD NiMH?

It cant be what i think LSD stands for right?

LSD, for these batteries, refers to low self-discharge.

I imagine the Infinus circuit board expects a certain voltage to work, and 4 NIMH cells, while enough at first, drop below that threshold soon enough to not be useful. It's one of the annoyances with trying to power electronics with them, as opposed to just a plain electrical circuit like with a Stryfe.

Well i guess you could just wire it to a 6v sub c pack
