Interesting never seen one like that does it adjust ink flow or like width

You adjust the flex. All the way down and it's flexible, all the way up it's like hard nib with little give. So kind of flow and width.

It adjusts how stiff the nib feels - the Pilot Justus uses a similar system. The closer to the tip the moveable part is, the more rigid the tines.

Here's a picture to show its effectiveness.

This FPN thread shows a comparison of the Justus and Doric. I think the Justus just being a tab which can still flex just adds a bit of flex resistance while the Doric's slider creates a stronger brace like a triangular plate put over the tines to add rigidity.

I've long thought the idea of an adjustable nib to be a cool concept. The found this black 2nd Gen Doric which unfortunately needs to be restored (piston rod stuck, the cork or whatever they used for the piston must have gone bad). Hopefully will find the time to send it out to be restored one day and maybe it can be a daily pen since black should be more resistant to crazing.

Thank you both now I understand. Still novice to this probably try flex nibs a little later like the idea of adjustable nibs.

Ohhhh man, the Doric w/ adjustable nib.

This pen is one of my grails. I would love to get a hold of one. Sadly they tend to go for too much on Ebay (for the price I can pay, that is). Maybe I'll find one in the wild some day...
