I was actually hoping she would keep the Palpatine name, to show that she's confident enough in herself not to let it drag her down. I'm kind of disappointed this didn't happen
This is how it SHOULD of ended. I get the emotional reason behind her saying Skywalker or whatever, but a theme of this movie was, as Leia said, "don't be afraid of who you are." This should of culminated with her calling herself a Palpatine. Shitty ass writers who missed so many details.
slams table THANK YOU
That didn’t really work for Leia all too well. She literally had to go underground with the resistance because people found out she was the daughter of Vader (and this is after the fall of the empire)
Well, I'm thinking saving the universe could get her a free pass
But what would the lady on Tatooine know about? The evils of the Empire and the horrors that Palpatine conducted? Or the only survivor of a fight against a supposed return of the Emperor?
It's the same thing that the other commenter mentioned about Leia. In that book she goes to explain that Vader had redeemed himself by killing Palpatine, but those who wanted her gone wouldn't accept the story because all they had to go on was Luke's word.
Saying she was Rey Palpatine probably would've caused that woman to go running in terror
I'm just saying, after all this talk about being herself, I kinda feel like they threw that message in the trash for a simple tearjerker
She has Ben inside her (bad choice of words) after his sacrifice.
She is a Skywalker.
Lmao you got me in the first half
Fairly boring character like most of the characters in this trilogy tbh
Builds upon TLJ and TFA message
Your past doesn’t define you , your choices do
If the past doesn’t define you then why would she hide her true nature. Make the name of palpitine a name that people don’t fear
Her choice was to believe in good and fight for it ... she chose to listen to Luke and Leia and save Ben
She believed and chose to trust her fate to all the Jedi vs all the Sith
She chose to be a Skywalker
spoiler tag man
She will always be a palpatine wether she likes it or not, that part was super cliche. Also why did she bury leias saber in tatooine? Obviously you can’t bury it at alderaan but leia has no connection to tatooine.
I thought she buried the Sabers to show her independence from the skywalkers but then claims to be one
Right? I kept thinking... "it was only a kiss! They didn't get married!"
It’s wack
The fact that she takes the Skywalker name just portrays her as a spoiled brat that needed to have everything her way. It completely ruined the character of Rey for me.
I like her more in this one only because she wasn’t overpowering, but then she one shotted the emperor.
She pulled a ship down and used force lightning and "force healing". Her powers were never an issue for me. But her reveals and big decision in the end ruin her for me.
I liked how kylo was a better fighter, her force powers are op now that I think about it. But then kylo got a huge buff since tfa
How many “fans” just learned Emperor had a last name?? Haha. Read a book.
Sheev palpatine and I actually didn’t look that up. His master was plagues, did I ever tell you the story of darth plagues the wise. How ironic, thinking I ain’t a real fan/nerd
There are multiple palpatines now, only one true emperor
An Empress!!
“Noooo,noooo, noo “
You are part of the comments but I do not grant you the rank of master
Well , Luke and Leia, showed her more love and kindness than any adult figure she knew.
Did Luke? Really?

Did you watch The Last Jedi? Luke didn't give her any sort of love
Did you watch any of The Rise of Skywalker?
He gave her tough love... Just like his nephew Ben. Too bad Luke just forgot how to express himself in his old age and turned into a projection of Ruin Johnson. So much potential if he did not become an OoC fanfic self insert.
