A question in regards to furry taboos.
OK, let me start off by saying that this post isn’t meant to call people out or embarrass them. Feel free to ask me about my stance and I’ll give you an honest answer.
So I’ve seen a lot of posts about the darker side of the fandom, from furs and anti-furs alike. And it seems like most people agree on the condemnation of certain taboos in the community. I’m of course talking about things like cub, gore, feral, ect... My question is this. Isn’t it possible for someone to be aroused by these things, and also NOT have the impulse to act on it in real life. I’ve seen a ton of posts calling people sick or twisted because they like cub or feral. With plenty of people implying that they’re closet pedos or zoophiles. But just because it gets people off in the furry world of the internet, doesn’t mean they’ll do it in real life. That’s my opinion at least, feel free to debate that.
For example, I really like the NWA song “Fuck Da Police”. A song about killing cops. There’s no denying that’s what the lyrics pertain to. That being said, I like the song, but when an officer gets killed, I feel bad. My brain is able to differentiate music/entertainment from reality. Same thing with playing GTA. I can walk into a hospital and kill 87 people with an AR-15, but if that were to happen in real life, I wouldn’t feel good about it. Nor do I feel like secretly going out and killing police officers/innocent people.
So what do you think? Is my viewpoint solid, or does it require some more thought? Please feel free to let me know.
