These have been in my fridge for a few weeks, I should've checked on them sooner. Wondering if that's mold and thus shouldn't eat them.

They were stored wrapped in a paper towel and then in a plastic bag. I just read that they shouldn't be kept in a plastic bag so maybe I've answered my question.

Also, if I get them ground up to be taken in capsules, would that be ok?

Not mold. The blue color is the psilocybin in the shrooms denaturing, happens as they get older. Good to eat, might be slightly less potent than when they were first dried. Capsules are fine, method is personal preference

*Psilocin causes the blueing. Not psilocybin

The shrooms contain psilocybin. Psilocybin is covered in psilocin in your gut after ingestion.

The following how I always understood this

“ Stamets contends that the bluish pigmentation is “a result of a phenomenon paralleling the degradation of unstable psilocin (dephosphorylated psilocybin) to presently unknown compounds by enzymes within the mushroom cells. What this means is that when a Psilocybe or Panaeolus bruises bluish, the color reaction is a co-indicator that psilocin is or was present. “

I guess it’s similar to what we both said

Bring water to a low boil make tea with mushroom material and boil for about 8-10mins kill any mold. I agree with the others, they are bruising. Were they cracker dry when you put them in there they can rehydrate and get moldy if you allow it.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with those. You can take them how they are and you'll have no issues. I still like making tea though, hits faster for me and you can strain the matter out and honey and ginger.

They look fine to me. Blue always is bruising. If you took the time to dry them thoroughly you’re good to go. Mold only happens if they’re not dehydrated.

I understand the sentiment, however blue is not ALWAYS bruising. I've had a few instances of blue fluffy mold that was indeed not mushroom tissue

Sometimes also the mycelium right as ot turns to mushrooms is picked too and this is kinda fluffy and cam bruise blue too. Is that what you were talking about maybe?

I know we don't want to give it credence guys, but if I say it was mold, it was mold. No myc, slight bruising, and blue colored fuzz growing off of the mushrooms

No worries dude your the one looking at it after all.

If they’re cracker dry then yeah they look good. Nom nom.

Its fine bro. Keep in mind they probably rehydrated a bit in fridge so if you were weigh out your dose it would be a little heavier than when you put it in there.
