Did the Cabal from D1 know that Ghaul was in charge?

I've been a huge Hive and somewhat Fallen fanatic since the beginning of D1, mostly ignore the space rhinos though.

Did the Cabal from Destiny 1 know that Ghaul was in charge or were they still reporting to Calus?

I was reading a entry from The Skyburners and Blind Legion and at the end they said something similar to "our Primus."

Ghaul is the Dominus of the Red Legion, so could it be possible that most of the Cabal under The Skyburners only followed their immediate higher up or the Primus of The Skyburners and never knew about the coup or were they already following Ghauls orders as their emporer?
