So what exactly costs $6 bill a year to operate?

General Discussion

I was thinking about this as I watched a notable twitch streamer raise money for St. Jude. For reference, St. Jude costs $2.8 million a day to operate, or $1.022 billion a year. That number to me is just a mind blowingly high amount of money.

In comparison, TSCC costs $6 billion a year to operate, which means it costs TSCC costs ~$16,438,356.16 a day to operate.

Exactly what costs that much? For a "church" that is a tiny portion of humans, and makes members clean their own worship places and fund-raise for basically anything....that seems extremely high.

Is most of that BYU? that's ridiculous if it is.

I know we don't know, because TSCC won't disclose it....but damn.

I agree with above - payroll is the largest cost. The Church employees over 10,000 bureaucrats, scribes, and Pharisees to perpetuate their myths.

Russell M. Nelson. It’s his company. He needs to launder the money somehow... 6 billion In to generate a Few 100 million plus out to people that he deems as worthy. Watch “ozark” on Netflix for money laundering example. Lol.

That is 1200 per active member a year? And all the labor up to stake president is free? sounds like bullshit numbers to me

Do stake presidents get paid? I thought you had to go higher than that to get the $$$$$$$

All labor up to and including stake Presidents is free. Including toilet cleaning.

Religious labour sure.

But toilet cleaning is pretty much the only maintenance labour that's free.

Is actually expect the budget to be larger.

Maintenance on buildings is not cheap, and would suck up a huge portion of the budget. As would construction of new buildings.

The missionary program on average costs way more than missionaries contribute. Living expenses in high cost missions are way to high to be balanced by low cost missions. (Thanks to everybody who contributed to my two year holiday in sunny Queensland).

Then there is a huge paid labour force. CES. Social services. General admin staff.

Then there are the unit operating budgets. While individually small, they collectively add up to a lot of money.

Across a global organisation, six billion doesn't go far.
