Is there a way to somehow get back files from a broken computer?

Okay, so I don't know a lot about computers and I will try to explain this as best as I can. I have an older MacBook Pro, about 2014, that broke a couple of years ago. Basically the screen stopped working and went black, though at the last time I tested it, the computer was still able to turn on. On the computer, I have three or so video files of an interview I did of my grandparents for a school project. At this time currently, my grandmother is losing her ability to speak and walk and stuff, so my mom and family want the files so as to have videos of her before her health started deteriorating. Is there a way that I or anyone could get these files? I know that computers have RAM and ROM so doesn't that mean that the files are stored in a hard drive? Again, I really am not sure and just want to know if there's a way at all that I could get this footage. If there is a place I can go to, that would be great, but I also do live in Singapore, so I'm sure the options are more limited. Thank you for your time.
