It has an HE bullet that's slightly less effective than a ShVAK HE round, and an AP bullet comparable to the US M2 AP bullet. It's 5 grams heavier, but has 5mm less pen and 55 less m\s.
It also has a maximum range of 7 kilometers, compared to 2.5 for the US .50s, 2km for most 20s, 312 more RPM than an M2 and a HE - HE - AP - HE belt.
All that at 2.0 in a pretty great plane.

I still prefer the ballistics of the M2 or the Berezin but if this HE round is as good as the stats say this might as well be an autocannon. Out of all the "slow" HMGs though this one probably beats out the 13mm confetti launchers the Germans have and absolutely wipes the floor with the Ho-103s/SAFATs.
It's not slow at all though. 900 m\s for the HE round.
So it's HE is 112 m\s faster than the german minenuke, has a 1500m effective range, compared to the german 700m, a better hitpowermult, better shutter stats, better hitpower past 1km.

I'm sold. Between this and the 24mm pen on the 8mm MGs Sweden's shaping up to be quite a punchy nation.

Fun fact the M/39 is an M2 Browning variant. It uses the same case as regular BMG but has a larger bullet allowing for an HE charge. It has all the excellent qualities of the M2 because it is an M2 plus the benefits of a larger round.
Lol found it out day 1 and got 4kd+(got 19kd on that 4 gun br2.0 J22) on almost every plane equipped with this magical 13’2 m/39 HMG.
Yeah, it's probably the best gun before jets. Like, you have no reason to ever fire the hispano on J\A21s
Yeah but it’s quite disappointing to see the jet version of J21 uses 12.7 mm browning replicas instead of this beast HMG.
It looks better than ShitVAKs to me. Plus there are more of then on a single plane with more HE rounds in the belt.
Also what exactly is a "good" ShVAK belt?

Must have been axed. I've been picking off bombers with berezin and 20mm shvak at 3+km for ages now.
yet 30mm ADENs and DEFAs despawn at exactly 1km still... I cry :<

Nope, they literally despawn at 1km. It's a piece of knowledge I've regularly exploited in jet games - get 1km away and you're immune to any jet with 30mms and without missiles.
So I'm hoping that 7km max range is a bug, because the german BK 7.5 has 3km.
All other 15-20mm guns have 2km.
