Thoughts on the gay mod?

I wanna start this by saying that I am new to reddit, and haven’t really made many posts, but this is a legitimate question, and I don’t want to just stir the pot/be a troll.

I made a post the other day about starting Awakening, and it was with the modded version in which same-sex S supports are available. No one seemed to mind, but when I mentioned it offhandedly to my friend, they said that the fanbase hates that mod, and sees it as a disgrace (not the exact wording but something along those lines).

I really just want to gauge the actual reception of it based on people’s own opinions rather than just one account from a friend. So really, what are everyone’s thoughts on the mod? If you do answer, what makes you think that?
