Look at this stuff. Isn't it neat? Wouldn't you think my (Pilot Iroshizuku ink) collection's complete?

Wouldn't you think I'm the girl... The girl who has every-ink?

Nice.

I've only got half that collection.

I recently brought some to work to have a coworker sample some, and someone thought my bottle of Kon-peki was cologne.

I offered it up to them if they'd like to try some of my "Kon-peki Cologne". They opened the bottle, gave it a whiff, and they said it didn't smell like cologne. That's when I said, yah, it's fountain pen ink. They carefully screwed the cap back on and gingerly handed it back to me. LOL

After I thought about it... I could only imagine the mess if they tried some on...

You’re missing a Dinglehopper and a Snarfblat.

Damn, and im here with one bottle of noodlers black.

Wow.

tricky_treeOP•

It took almost two years to complete.

welcmhm•

Do you do a lot of writing? It would probably take me 30 years to finish that much ink. Any favorites?

5
tricky_treeOP•

Yes, I do a lot of writing in my personal and professional life. Lots of note-taking, reflective writing, journaling, sketching, and so on.

These inks are stunning, so it's difficult for me to distinguish a favorite. Off the top of my head, I'll say the 100th Anniversary Fuku-roku-ju ink, which is a jade green, or the Shin-Kai, a beautiful dark blue.

kagazkalam•

How long it might now take you to finish those?

At some point many of us realize there's going to be a few extra lines written into a will somewhere.

12
kagazkalam•

Certainly. And the only question remains whether to use an iron gall or pigment to write it 😃

There seem to be some room in your collection for a few more bottles..

Do you have edo murasaki in there??

He's missing all those ones.

2

I missed that ship. Those were before my time collecting, unfortunately!

Wow that lot must have set you back a bit. I only have 3 bottles of iroshizuku ink. In the UK they are very expensive at around £25 to £30 a bottle. The 3 I have came from sales. I do have around 160 bottles of ink from various manufacturers though. I have more Diamine inks than any other as they are easily available on the UK and are inexpensive.

fourfuxake•

I’m the same. Diamine seems to behave well in all pens, too. I like wet inks. Noodlers is brilliant too, but a bitch to get hold of over here. Best I found was an eBay seller in Italy.

I like Noodlers ink. I have Bay State Blue, Navajo turquoise and apache sunset.

MehWhateverZeus•

For the UK I think pure pens stocks some noodlers.

2
fourfuxake•

Excellent, thanks! I’ll take a look.

They do samples as well which is great for trying things out cheaper

Living for the disney refrence

And I'm over here wishing for an entire line of Harry Potter ink inspired by Luna Lovegood. Can you just imagine the creativity of those colors and names?!?!swoons

2
GiraffeOkapi-GSH•

But we all know it would just be based on the houses... as always, we need noodlers style ink like 'the final battle' or 'Umbridge' (which would be pink)

Dang, you got me singing! 😁

You want 色彩雫? I’ve got 20.

Doctor_Sev•

That's an awesome collection! Which of the colors do you use most regularly? I've only got the Kon Peki of the Pilot inks.

1
tricky_treeOP•

Kon Peki is such a beautiful blue! I really enjoy the 100th Anniversary Fuku-roku-ju ink. I am trying to use every single ink color for at least a week before switching off to the next.

Have you to the 3 Tokyo L.E.s ?

1
ComradePark•

I'm consisering getting them. I hope I can build a collection as magnificent as yours.

Are the inks good?

Do they smear with sweat or water after drying?

Do they clog your pen after not using for a long time?

How do they do with EF tips?

1
tricky_treeOP•

Great questions! I will answer your questions to my own experience:

  • YES! These are high quality inks and capture wonderful colors. Don't miss out on the 100th Anniversary inks that came out earlier this year if you are looking to add a couple limited editions for your collection.
  • Unfortunately, these inks do smear with water. They need a little time to dry after writing depending on your pen (e.g., Pilot Falcon's flex nib is more wet and will require a little more time to dry). I will add that drying time does not effect my overall writing experience, personally. I believe JetPens has a wonderful review that covers the smearing aspect of these particular inks.
  • I use my pens pretty frequently, so I have not had any issue. Can anyone else answer to their experience?
  • I write exclusively with EF Pilot pens, and these inks do very well—! You might want to see if your local pen shop can let you try the ink with one of their sample pens. Better to try in person or buy a small sample to test it out.

Cheers!

Thanks for the detailed answers! I think I'll buy the black ink and the green-black in February. Very helpful!

And is there a colour that you don’t like? I have kon-peki and ku-jaku and I love them both but other ones don’t seem to be attractive to me, for example all those blue blacks that are rather grey. But I imagine that seeing them in “real life” could change my mind

1
tricky_treeOP•

Not a huge fan of Ino-ho, which is a gold-brown.

That's an army of Iroshizuku getting ready to raid all the papers of the world with their armory of rich colors, shading, sheening....time to add General Edelstein..

Waiting for Pilot to release 350mL editions of Iroshizuku inks!
