Varane appreciation

It's so sad to see all these team of decades coming out and everyone accepts ramos as a necessity but not varane. I'm not saying he's a sure pick like ramos, but the guy definitely amongst the top 3 in the last 5years. We don't hype him enough i feel. 4 cls and a world cup to go with many other trophies. It's down to him we're not having any problem in defense. I don't think people understand the level you must be at to play alongside ramos and be at the same level. Look at barca or city. They've had 2nd centre back problems for so long. They have no one to accompany pique or kompany and when they do, the player lasts at the level for about 2 year. I thinks it's down to us fans not appreciating him enough. We need to be making a bigger deal out of this rather than vini or kubo or odegod considering rafa is only 26 and yet to enter his prime.

Indeed he is unsung hero of RealMadrid. In age of 26 he achieved almost everything, he is already RM Legend.

Does anyone remember his tackle on Fabregas in 2013? He truly shined in that Clasico. The fact that we have made a big-name purchase for almost every other position in the last decade except for his speaks volumes about his level.

he is easly the faster centre back in the world, there is a compilation of him tracking back a clear forward and catching up which you wouldnt expect any player to do so

We can say his exclusion from all the Team of the Decade is because he wasn't as good as he is now for the entire decade. Last five years, definitely. But before that, not really. So I guess it's justified.

I do see him becoming the captain if he sticks around for like three seasons. Supposing Benzema, Ramos and Marcelo retired by then. Varane captain and Kroos vice maybe. That would be the first time a non-spanish player would be full-time captain, right?

I’ve seen some list him as an honorable mention. He’s been a bit inconsistent. Big difference between Ramos being out and Varane being out as well over the decade. Almost anyone next to Ramos and our defense is barely effected but not the same with Varane.

He was so good on his debut season (Or first season as a starter or alternating) that he made me look up defensive skills compilations for the first time in my life. He was untreatable! Such a beast. I remember Drogba was surprised he was that young when he played against us in Galatasaray because of how good his defending was. Legend. 🔥

I don't understand the point of posting something like this about one of the best center backs in the world, constantly keeping his form and staying in the first squad of both the best club in the world and the world cup winning national team.

Appreciation? I'm sure his contract reflects it.

Idk man I’m the only person I know with his shirt and I know a good amount of Madrid, France, and general football supporters. Contract =/= the public’s opinion.

And as always the club know how much he's worth, but i don't think the fans do.

Well, now you know two people with his shirt. His marketing team just isn't trying to monetize him as much. Doesn't do many advertisements, doesn't do many interviews, and in general is a stable character, not flashy, flamboyant and such, so he gets less plastic attention.

A contract perfectly show he is appreciated by the people who matter, as public opinion doesn't win trophies.

Yeah, im not talking about his quality. More about the fact that we don't flex him enough, when we keep on hyping about how best vinicius, rodrygo and fede are going to be or how modric is one of the best or how benz is the best striker in the world we don't mention varane as much as we do for the likes of ramos, marcelo, modric.
