Luke Scott, Orioles OF: "You don't think that Obama wasn't born in the United States, do you? Luke Scott: He was not born here."

Come on. If you're born here, there's plenty of documents.
Yes, like the one he provided over two fucking years ago.
Can we start doubting Luke Scott's birth here, and claim his is the short form?
No need. As he's on the Orioles, technically he doesn't exist.
(This coming from an Orioles fan, by the way. Sigh.)
In Buck we trust? Sigh.
If we can get not last place in the division this year, it's a win in my book.
Not really hard, considering that the Rays just got reduced to complete ignominy in a single day.
SIGH, maybe this stuff is why. Can we get a chant together for Scott next season? Used to like this guy, sigh.
Can we get The Earl back? That was some crazy we could get behind.
I liked the editor's note insertion of that supposedly non-existent birth certificate that's been out there for years. Subtle way of saying "this guy's a dumbass, sorry folks."
I read that all in Kenny Powers' voice.
Baseball players, challenging football players for biggest morons for 100 years.
Offensive Linemen and Quarterbacks on average have high IQ's.
Hockey players have the lowest out of the four major sports.
Citation required (out of curiosity more so than disbelief).
I would have guessed d-backs or safeties over o-line.
Also no fair giving the NHL'ers IQ tests in English.
I think the average IQ is around 100, so I guess offensive linemen are a little better than average

According to this article they score somewhere around a news writer.
I don't know where I saw the article about hockey players, and I couldn't find any evidence (I know it's lame of me). But if you think about the amount of schooling the athletes of each of the major sports undergoes, it only makes sense that football players would score higher. Football players normally attend college up to at least their junior year. No other major sport can come close to that level of schooling. I might be mistaken, but hockey players get the least.
Also, IQ scores are a pretty iffy subject as far as measuring intelligence and all that schtuff.
Canadians.
As a Canadian I concur
I disagree, I think Nascar drivers and Pole Vaulters are the smartest athletes in all of sports. I have no citations to support my claims, but it's easy to state "facts" without citations isn't it?
Hillbillies with money are still hillbillies.
Eighty years ago, 50 years ago, a man would walk up to another man and go in for loan. He'd extend his hand, he'd shake it and he'd look at the man and he'd say, "I'll pay this back." He would do it. You couldn't even ... to even mention that [scenario] today ... is that a cartoon fantasy?
80 years ago was 1930. The tax rate on the rich was 90% and Roosevelt was about to embark on the largest public works program in the history of the world.
Thank you for referring to that thing called "reality". We don't get much of that.
80 years ago was 1930. The tax rate on the rich was 90% and Roosevelt was about to embark on the largest public works program in the history of the world.
Actually Hoover was President.
And thats why I said "about", rather than "was in the process of".
Do the Birthers realize it was GW’s job to secure this country by not allowing a foreign born person to run for president? Keeping the President an American is part of National Security and if what the birthers think was true (its not)...it would be another example of the complete failure of National Security by the Bush administration.
I could care less what a mediocre player like Luke Scott thinks about baseball let alone the president
Stuff like this is why I don't listen to athletes regarding politics. They're paid to play sports...not to debate national issues.
Dumb jock is dumb.
I love how the editor turned Scott's "Here it is." comment into a link to the birth cetificate. Very smooth.
LS: He was not born here. [...] That's my belief.
Someone needs to explain to this mouth breather that reality doesn't stop existing because you stop believing in it. How have we gotten to the point in this country where facts can be considered valid or invalid based on whether or not you believe in them?
Also, Orioles suck.

It's both troubling and unnerving that there are MANY people out there that think the exact same thing. Just because you play professional ball doesn't mean you are exempt from being a douchebag.
Is this a new character from the creators of "The Office"? Michael Scott's younger, retarded brother?
Please Reddit, give me solace from my FB wall of idiots here in Baltimore that are lauding him as their new hero! People make me sad.
Man I hear you. I'm from Baltimore City, for the most part it's democratic, but then my FB friends from the outlying counties start spouting their Republican nonsense and I have to bite my tongue. It's a waste of time to argue with stupid. Just weird how Maryland is so split like that.
He also thinks the Orioles have a chance to win the World Series.
Who cares what Luke Scott thinks. This is so stupid to even post this. Again I am ashamed of Yahoo Sports. This is clearly just some "journalist" trolling an athlete with strong beliefs because he knows he will say stupid things and get himself some attention. We get it there are people out there who don't believe Obama wasn't born in this country. Who cares?!? I'm so sick of people whining about "birthers" or whatever the hell stupid nicknames people give them. They are stupid, I get it.....Move on.
Here is a crazy idea, instead of "journalists" asking athletes about politics why don't you ask Luke Scott about baseball? Maybe something like, "Luke, do you enjoy playing for a perennial basement dweller like the Orioles?" or "Hey Luke, do you ever get together with the Pirates players and argue about who is worse at their job?"
I think you submitted this to the wrong place. This belongs in /r/politics not /r/sports
Well, he's not being paid to think.
it bothers me when actors/singers/athletes start talking politics espically when it makes no sense.
