How much should I spend on a motherboard?

Question

I want to upgrade my pc, and what I got so far is: CPU: Ryzen 5 3600x GPU: Nvidia RTX 2070 RAM: 2x8gb DDR4 HyperX Fury 3200mhz Motherboard: Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro

I'm not sure about the mobo thought, is it necessary to get one this expensive? I could save about 400 R$ (~100$) if I got a Gigabyte B450M Aorus or AsRock 450M Steel Legend instead.

Any tips are appreciated

You're overpaying for a GPU so why not spend a little extra and get a nice mobo.

Ok, that's fair

If youre not ocing you dont need to get an expensive motherboard. Make sure it has the ports and connectors you need and the aesthetics you like.

The ones around 200 can be solid or shitty, ones around 100 are usually great unless you're planning on overclocking and then ones above 300 are usually shit unless you actually need all the features they have. You just gotta do some research, But get s 2070 super its cheaper in some places.

The cheapest 2070s is 100$ more expensive than the 2070 Im buying. Its a really good price. For mobo Im just not sure if 80$ more is worth for a aorus b450 pro instead of a asrock b450m steel legend

80-100 less is a great deal but, If that 2070 isn't atleast an A chip its not going to be worth it. I don't know too much about b450 chipsets but I thought the functionality of the 3xxx ryzens were better on x570 boards. I would look into that too because a $200 b450 might not be much better than a $120 version but a $180 x570 could be better for your uses. (I'm not really current on pricing but you get the point im sure)

Go for the non-X 3600, better value. You can grab a 5700 XT which is a little slower than a 2070S but again is a better value due to being significantly cheaper. A cheaper mobo option would be the B450 Tomahawk Max which still packs excellent power delivery. Ideally you'd also go for 3600 speed RAM but that's the least important thing - 3200 isn't half bad.

What's your power supply? That might need a boost.

I've considered everything you said already, turns out prices here in Brazil are a bit strange. 3600x is exact same price as 3600 where I'm buying, and I can't find a single 5700xt cheaper than this 2070 as well.

For power supply I have a 600w bronze, does it need upgrade?

Brand and model? Corsair makes 600W Bronze units and so does Linksys - Only the latter will blow up on you.

I wasn't aware of the price trends! Absolutely go for the cheaper options.

It is evga 100-b1-0600-kr if i'm not mistaken, can't really check right now because I'm not home. Never had any problems in 4+ years with my current gtx970

Sounds okay then. You can look for a Corsair TXM later for a decent single-rail Gold unit if you want to.

I got the MPG X570.
