Physics based Minecraft mod cancelled (+ next steps)

Im sorry about this, but there are way too many issues with the physics engine which are out of my control that I don’t even understand. First of all, the game crashes very often which sucks. This means that you mostly only get 30 Minute play sessions. Second of all it’s extremely laggy. With 5 physics objects in sight, you can feel the FPS drop. Third, the picking up is broken as hell and I have no idea how to fix it. When you pick something up the item twitches around, sometimes even flings away. Why? I don’t know.

Im sorry about this announcement, since I’m sure that some people actually wanted this to become reality. Unfortunately, it’s way too buggy and I have no idea about physics so it was a bad idea in the first place.

What’s next? I’m not sure. I’m thinking about making high effort memes, since the current WW3 meme didn’t spawn many high effort posts. I promised that I would make an Untitled Chicken Mod level pack in the last post, so im going to be doing that I guess.

If you have any interesting suggestions, please comment them!

Could you open source the mod for other people to contribute?

It’s a gigantic mess. I can, since I directly forked Vivecraft afterwards since I am not nearly skilled enough to write my own OpenVR implementation, which also means that I can quickly generate patches.

Can’t you just release the diffs? With something like git

I literally just figured out what diffs are. This makes my life so much easier.

Anyways, the vivecraft repo has a nice structure which makes patches automatically and builds really quickly. I’ll release it like that.
