I need a better Java book than Herbert Schildt's Java: A Beginner's Guide - specifically for Generics, Lambdas, and Enums

I'm a junior developer in Java and I've been with my company a little over a year. This is my first programming job. I knew a little bit of Python coming in, but they needed me to do Java, so I started off learning with Herbert Schildt's book, 7th ed.

The first half of the book is pretty great, but Schildt has some really unusual habits with regard to naming conventions and declarations. By the time I got to Generics and Lambdas, I could barely read his code anymore, and it's really affecting my ability to learn the more complex topics.

Just wondering if anyone could recommend to me a book that covers Generics and Lambdas with a bit more clarity / simplicity? I've read the API and a few online guides but I honestly just like to have a physical book on my desk for notes and reference.

How did you get a junior java dev job if you barely knew python and didnt know java?

i already worked in the company at a different position, and became interested in programming through friends. I started self-teaching Python, then after several months I started coding with one of the engineers as a side hobby. A junior position opened up and he recommended me based on my current (at the time) level of knowledge and my work ethic. The transition from Python to Java was harder than I anticipated, although maybe I should not have described my knowledge of Python as just "a little bit"
