''Listen kid, when this is all over, we're gonna sit down, me and you.''

Is Uncle Phill My Ass angry at Butchie in this scene? Or is he saying he's gonna get a bump? Or what? I can't read their dialog in this scene for some reason.

I always took it as though Phil was dangling the carrot for Butchie, and it seemed that Butchie maybe picked up on it during that cell phone call he makes to Phil. It wasn’t too long after when Butchie met with Tony to give him the ok to clip Phil.

Phil is using Butchie by promising him a sit down/maybe a bump up. Butchie then looks out to see that what used to be Little Italy is now not, and he’s out of his element, left out in the cold, by himself. for somebody doing all of the leg work to take down the Sopranos, hes reached the end of the road proverbially and literally, and Phil has become just “his master’s voice.”

Butchie realizes “it’s gone too far,” just like him wandering out of his territory.

Not so subtly threatening Butchie ; but Phil was losing a lot of support already for his take orders from the Shah in exile approach to being the boss.

A Leotardo vs . DeConcini split most likely with Butchie and Albie coming out on top.

I thought it was Phil expressing frustration and disappointment with Butchie, since right before Phil had been irritated with Butchie for suggesting reaching out to Tony. So I think Butchie realized that even if the war ended and Phil was still boss, Butchie’s position was still not secure and Phil would potentially whack Butchie anyway considering Phil’s bloodmania at that point. Butchie then calls Tony to give the okay for Tony to kill Phil.

Imo, Phil is making a minimal effort to try to calm and placate Butchie at the moment by floating the idea that Butchie will be rewarded. But Phil is also impatient and really uninterested in anyone else so he brushes it all aside quickly.

phil is letting butchie know that butch is fucking up. there's nothing good about the talk they would have had. butch was talking about trying to end the war without killing tony which phil would have never went for. butchie knew he was on phil's bad side after this and it influenced his decision to essentially stop backing phil during the last sitdown with tony.

It sounded like he was chastising Butchie and he meant he was going to read him the riot act when they finally got a chance to sit down.

Or what? I can't read their dialog in this scene for some reason.

Neither can Butchie..

I thought it was a threat. Especially since Butchie floated the idea of having a sitdown and working out the issue with Tony.

Yeah, I've never taken it for anything else than a threat. I'm sort of surprised by the general consensus here that it might not have been.

Angry probably. Wants to kill him

Phil was pissed, and he was basically just going to bitch about how disappointed he was if they had their sit-down or whatever. Butchie realizes right about now that Phil was a shitty boss who was just pissed and wanted to kill everyone, and he couldn't be reasoned with anymore.
