[UPDATE] Regarding Rare & Unmodified Systems

Happy new year everyone!

After much consideration, r/GameBoyMarketplace will start allowing our users to sell rare, unmodified Game Boy handhelds on this sub. To clarify, these newly allowed submissions must meet both of those criteria - rare and unmodified. Some examples of what is newly allowed and still not allowed are listed below:

✅ Pokemon Center Game Boy Color

✅ Manchester United DMG

✅ Famicom Game Boy Micro

✅ Game Boy Light (OEM Nintendo)

✅ Authentic, Complete-In-Box Game Boys of all varieties

❌ Most loose, non-special edition Game Boys

❌ Lime Game Boy Color

❌ Mint Condition Gray DMG

❌ Silver Game Boy Pocket with new screen shield

❌ Yellow Play It Loud DMG

❌ Games, parts, incomplete or broken systems

As always, we will continue to encourage our modding community to wow us with their modded systems. These guidelines haven't changed, but are posted just as reminders:

✅ Modded systems with at least one newly added electrical component (backlight, audio mods, clock mods, bivert chip, etc.)

❌ Systems with only cosmetic upgrades (third-party shells, buttons, screen shields, etc.)

✅ Unmodified consoles with custom artwork (hand-painted, UV printed, etc.)

We'll keep this thread open in case anyone has any questions or would like us to clarify the rule changes any further. Obviously some recent posts have been allowed that did not follow these rules, but we will continue to monitor posts as closely as possible. Exceptions to these rules can and will always be considered simply by messaging the mod team.
