It's a special sort of irony when "Linux" has to be qualified with the word "free"
This subreddit was created in response to some conversation that took place on r/linux regarding excessive/restrictive moderation there, particularly regarding the suppression of any posts that didn't revolve around Linux news and discussion surrounding such news — posts such as those by community members simply asking questions about various aspects of Linux and Linux distros.
The deleted post in r/linux which inspired the creation of r/FreeLinux can be found here — partially archived on Wayback; I've also got a saved copy of the webpage which I'll be hosting somewhere soon.
Have fun!

Interesting, so as I understand it, this is simply a less formal place for discussion of "everything Linux"?
I created it on a whim essentially for that purpose, and chose the name along the lines of r/FreeMagic, which is a Magic: the Gathering subreddit that was created since r/magictcg was experiencing similarly laughable censorship from mods there. u/selplacei has informed me that r/linux_community was also created today in response to the r/linux controversy, and it's already got some content, so check that out, too.
