PSA: YouTube is striking and banning accounts for re-uploading "My Year in EVE" videos. Don't upload them until CCP fixes its automatic copyright claim settings.
Probably a good idea to delete your re-uploads on YouTube until this is sorted too.

I uploaded it about a day after receiving the video, at which point YouTube's Content ID system issued a copyright claim due to the music CCP used. But this is not the same as a copyright strike. Are you sure you're seeing a proper strike?
Yeah this. The "copyright claim" just means you can't monetize i believe? Have had them appear on the historical EVE videos I uploaded recently. Doesn't impact me at all, not trying to make money from them.
Yep, strikes are for when your appeal to the claim is denied twice, then you get a strike. Maybe for special occasions and repeat offenders as well, I'm not sure.
It just means that any revenue from this video goes to the claiming party, which is the copyright holder for automated claims (but not always for manual claims, precisely why YT is fucked nowadays btw).
Actually, monetization for strikes goes into a trustee account and is only paid in the event that the claimant or alleged offender prevails
Google has a department dedicated to helping creators fight claimants because it is a trollfest that literally anyone can make a claim, and google ends up losing money the more content they have to pull, so if possible they work with you to try to help justify fair use.
It is also policy there to suspend an account once they have 3 strikes, regardless of pending strike processes. otherwise they could have a small number of re-uploading offenders spam a shit ton of content up and they risk losing their safe harbor provisions of the DMCA by being seen as willfully contributing to piracy
My copyright claim (not strike) came from BMI Music... Not from CCP.
It had no effect on me whatsoever since I don't monetize my videos and it's not a strike.
I think OP is being a little alarmist.
