The tile doesn’t look to bad. I think the vanity and mirror are the main things throwing it off and making it feel like a guest bathroom. You could get a smaller mirror that’s framed out and a nice vanity that feels more like a piece of furniture.

I love the idea of a smaller mirror! I think a mirror that just covers the vanity, then a smaller vanity, could really open it up. thanks!

Small change: matching hardware? I like black, clean shapes, but whatever you like so long as they’re all related (toilet paper holder, towel bar, cabinet pulls, faucet, etc) could tie things together and make it a bit more modern.

For lighting, some sconce lighting (especially with a smaller mirror like discussed ^^) might make it feel more intimate and special.

Something like this: https://www.lucentlightshop.com/products/vortice-sconce (out of stock but you get the idea)

Good luck and enjoy!!!

We also just moved into a condo (not even a house and we are just renters), but I totally agree — it’s so daunting! Every project costs money and time. I think small edits like these (plus getting a fresh shower curtain) can be huge in making you feel like it’s your space.

My only other (very cheap if not free) thing that I do: being really intentional about organization. Finding a place for everything in a new space helps me feel immediately like it’s a home and not a rental or hotel. Even before any renovations, you’ll still be able to use the space and have it function well for you.

This YouTuber is the QUEEN of organization inspiration. and this YouTuber makes his office organization feel so manageable. . I watch tons of these videos and they really do help as long as I remember my spaces will probably never look quite as good as theirs do! Haha and that’s ok.

Last tip (I promise): Take pictures on your phone of the spaces your working on (even the inside of a cabinet) and precisely measure the space!! On my iPhone, I use the “markup” function to add text directly to the image stating the measurements—but you could do this however works best for you. When I’m in a store or online and see a piece I think might work in my home, I can reference the image and measurements to see if it will actually work. Really helps speed up the decision making process, especially if you’re a little slower to make decisions like I am.

You will be great!! Please share with us as you go along!

The sconces are designed to be hung either way but I’d definitely suggest horizontally over the mirror for your bathroom.
