Leveling tips for MCH / DRK / AST

[Discussion]

I've progressed with an arcanist throughout the MSQ up to 60 and have all classes unlocked, and was considering leveling a machinist. I noticed that there are no hunting logs for these "new" classes, and MSQ isn't an option at this point so is there any reasonably fast way to get up to where I left my arcanist off? Side quests and fate hunting seem a bit slow and getting into roulettes as a dps isn't reliable. Is palace of the dead my only reasonable option here?

for DRK and AST, just do roulettes and highest available dungeon in DF. You'll have short queues and fast XP.

For MCH... DPS queues are a lot longer, but honestly I did the same thing and just worked on other stuff while queued. Start working on gathering or crafting. Do Hildibrand quests. Unlock and work on Beast Tribes. Do the preliminary questing for Crystal Tower raids. etc.

^ this and also as dps i do my beast tribes quests while waiting/daily mini cactpot/send my retainers in ventures/play triple triad for cards I don't have yet/Kugane jump quest (that lamp post hates me I've yet to straight shot it)/look at memes/(when I was in school do schoolwork). There's plenty to do while waiting in game alone, but yeah there's also POTD. I'm one of the few ppl who enjoy queuing as DPS cuz I get a lot done during wait times that I was gonna do anyway.

Fates if you have nothing else work as well. Getting 10 gold in a week gives nice XP.

If you've unlocked squadrons and command missions, you can run dungeons with your squad as dps. No wait time, xp is comparable to regular dungeon runs, just no speed running. With the time you'll have to wait for a regular dungeon, you'd be finished with a command mission with time to spare.

Plus you need 5 distinct command missions for Captain, anyway, so kill two birds and all that.

I'm going to second this. There are definitely faster ways to level, but Squadrons are brain-dead easy, and you can basically play on auto-pilot while watching videos or listening to some podcasts.

Daily roulettes for leveling, Main Scenario and Alliance Raids are amazing xp for any class. Your dps will have a longer queue, but sit tight.

Challenge log, there is considerable gains to be earned through the weekly challenge log items for Battle, Leves and Fates.

And those Fate/Leve challenge log items are good for your queue time on your Machinist.

Actually DPS queues for Alliance are usually the 2nd shortest. I'll typically run MSQ on my WAR but Alliance on my SAM / whatever else needs XP

DRK and AST shouldn't have a hard time getting dungeon queues. Highest level dungeon spam is best.

MCH, your "best" bet is PotD spam; however, dungeon spam is also not far behind even with the longer queues. Use the time you're waiting to do filler activities like Beast Tribes or FATEs (FATEs are still decent exp when combined with weekly challenge logs).

When you say Arcanist, you do mean Summoner or Scholar, right?

Yes, I've been running one for quests and the other for roulettes.

Go to Quarrymill (gridania)
Palace of the Dead runs are the best for leveling alternate DPS classes

It works up to level 60. at 61 go to Heaven on High (Stormblood Expansion)

always do your daily roulettes, queueing as dps its ok, you can do fates or other content while in Q.

you can also try Palace until 61 after that Heaven on High but i find that a bit boring and repetitive, you could also find a Healer of Tank friend and tackle both highest dungeon available.

Work an hour or two and buy a level 70 boost
