I love watching my crazy owner's multiple personalities battle for control when he sends me an e-mail. I think he needs help.

This is why I turn off owner goals.

I probably should. I liked the challenge at one time, but my owner seems to be deliberately choosing the most ridiculous players to extend, and asking me to control his budget is beyond silly.

In case anyone is wondering, Royce Lewis has not been an everyday starter in two years, in which time he's posted a negative WAR for both. He's 41, is Wrecked, and wants $9 mil.

I see nothing wrong with this.

Tell Tom Ricketts, maybe he'll make me hire you as assistant GM. 😄

What did his career turn out to be?

I haven't actually looked. He was a lock for the HOF, and had served me well for years, but it was time to hang it up.

Ok, I checked. He bounced between two teams, totaling 90 ABs and another negative WAR. He is currently 42 and looking for work.

If you want to make your owner happy, you can let him walk. Wait him out in free agency (no one will touch him probably), then sign him to a minor league deal.

True, but I just let him go. That owner is never going to fire me.

I really wish there were some consistency around the financial goals, at least. Don't give me a $210M budget and tell me you want payroll cut to $140M. You control the budget, dude! If you want me to cut payroll, cut the damn budget!

Exactly. It's the stupidest goal of them all.

I was 10 games above .500 by the July review, the owner said something like "I can't believe how rough the first half was... there's room for improvement."
