I made a really crappy mockup of the PS5 UI based on the leak. It's not fantastic, but if nothing else, it was at least fun to make.

Yeah, it seems like the dev kits are just using a stripped down version of PS4 UI. Mark Cerny already said the UI will give people a lot of in-game info in the dashboard and I think that calls for a different UI.

It will look very similar to this. Go back and look at the PS3 dev kit UI and the PS4 dev kit UI. They both looked very similar to what we ended up getting

Well good thing about UI is that it can be changed at any time by Sony. When they show it off and everyone’s reaction is that the UI is shit they’ll change it

My entire reason why I don't think it will is because it's so big, this UI will be an eyesore on a large 60+inch tv. The smaller tiles on PS4 are very nice. Maybe the touchpad becoming a touch screen is true and this is the touch screen menu for the controller.

Didn’t Cerny or someone else already confirm that PS5 is getting a new UI? I don’t know why people think this is it. This shit looks like a step back aesthetically. And even with OPs effort (no diss to OP, you put in the effort) it looks like a prototype version of the PS4 UI. Looks like nothing but a dev kit placeholder UI.

Who cares about that. They'd be going back on their word if this is anything close to the "new" UI. That's one of the things Jim Ryan and Mark Cerny emphasised - "New UI."
If the PS5 gets this, it's not new.

Actually it is different, much different. I just bought ps3 the other day and man isnt it so Fn slow. You can't add folders, the navigation is mostly vertical, no sub menu (holding PS button) for quick tasks like turning up volume on controller, party chat, music, etc. So I'd say it's quite different my friend. It doesn't implement much quality of life like PS4.

It would be awesome if it were, but I have a feeling the PS symbols floating in front of the game icons would get annoying. I'd be fine if they flew behind the game icons.

I kind of wish the PS5 would use more of a cross bar approach, sort of like the PS3. Perhaps the best way to handle that is by having a cross bar for each folder or category. There could be default categories like system apps, media apps, PS5 games, PS4 games, and potentially other BC categories, but then user folders could be created as well like on PS4, but each category would have vertical navigation for all the items in it, like on PS3. I think it would be more efficient than what they're doing on PS4.

Your design is fine of course as you're just basing it on the leak. Just my thoughts on the leak really.
