Party was in a speeder being chased by speeder bikes and the Jedi’s all used Force Push to yeet the pilot’s out of the bikes. In our most recent session we were in a starship we were using for a job and had disabled an enemy fighter so I had the pilot get close and just used Force Throw a few times to get it to a landing platform then we paid the crew to rig a cable between the two ships and towed it to our destination then got some people to dismantle the fighter to sell it for scrap. The DM is trying to figure out how much we’ll make from that lol
Order 66 happened when we were in the middle of a clone stronghold. The shootout to get to our ship, a heavily refitted Consular-Class corvette, the Jade Sparrow, and the following blockade run were some of my favorite times in D&D.
This happened in a one-shot; our only time playing SW5e so far. I was DMing.
Party trapped in Imperial escape pod, escaping Star Destroyer to planet below. Distress beacon is broadcasting their position toward the Imperials, so they have to turn it off before they land or travel far enough that the Star Destroyer can predict their trajectory.
Party asks how to do this, I said I don’t know, you tell me. Scholar consults his character sheet for what number is biggest (mistake #1) and asks if he can make a Lore check. I dislike this sort of behavior, as he’s not trying to be creative at all and is just going for whatever’s mechanically advantageous without concern for if it makes sense. But I let him do it anyway.
He rolls a 31.
Now, it’s a Lore check on a distress beacon to shut it off, with zero explanation or idea as to why this makes sense, so it was never going to work as intended. But it’s a good roll, so I reward it all the same.
I spend the next two minutes yanking a story out of nowhere, weaving the tale of this particular model of distress beacon, what signal technology it uses, what two companies had a merger in order to produce it, the circumstances that facilitated this merger, how the Imperial commission for the manufacturing came about, etc etc etc. He rolled a 31 on a Lore check, so I was going to tell him every bit of lore he wanted to know about that beacon, and none of it was going to help the party come one step closer to turning the darn thing off.
By the time I winded down, half the table was falling out of their seats laughing, including the scholar, who immediately knew what I was doing and internalized why. The next player had a more inventive solution, and the adventure continued.
Player feedback told me that was far and above the favorite moment of the night.
Our campaign ended pretty climactically with one of our players becoming a Sith and going on a murderous rampage where he killed my character's family, the rest of the Sith, and our group healer.
In a fit of rage my character chased him to Korriban where the two of us engaged in a lightsaber fight. His character possessed far greater force abilities (3 Guardian/9 Counsular) while I was the superior duelist (12 Guardian) he got an early lead by using various force lightning and weakening abilities sticking me behind for most of the fight despite Knight Speed barely letting me keep up.
Finally he flattened me against the ground and placed a lightsaber to my neck before saying "I've wanted to look you in the eye's and do this for a long time."
Then he let me slowly crawl toward my lightsaber occasionally blasting me with lightning before the horrible twist that he had removed the force crystal from the hilt. He walked toward me and lifted the blade high into the air only for him to stop as he slowly slid in half.
I stood to my full height and with a red lightsaber in my hand I stared into his dying eyes and frying him with lightning
Six months of setup for the greatest feat of his whole Sith career. Turning a lawful good obedient Jedi to the dark side.
To quote my GM... Daaamn
I've only played one session but when the party got ambushed the Mon Calamari player went "IT'S A TRAP!"
There is a Mon Cal player in my group whose entire gimmick is traps; setting them, detecting them, whatever.
His work schedule is such that he can't make it every session, so when we he is there, traps are enjoyed by all. (It'd probably get old if he was there every session.)
Our group is on a rooftop structure, our goal is to take out a comms jammer and anti air turrets so Republic reinforcements can retake the city we're in. Going up the lift, we see a man fall over the side of the building. Our Jedi(s) make a power play and Force pull him in from 200ft away. He's stabilized and can barely tell us his apprentice is in danger and is "the key" to something big. Leaving him to rest, we reach the rooftop and move to continue the mission- but alas- a large group of droids stands before us, some looking over the edge of the building after the Jedi. Our Sentinel Jedi Force pushes that group over the edge with such force he nearly went with them. The other group was taken out by our Berserker (need to verify class) wielding a grenade launcher. In the distance we see a man in black armor with a red lightsaber bearing down upon a Jedi. It's my turn. I run closer behind cover and take a shot with my heavy pistol. Nat mother fucking 20, and I'd used my Rangers Quarry die for more damage as well. This SOB was able to saber deflect my ODONKulous shot right into the Jedi I was trying to distract him from. Felt that right in the character sheet. Our two Jedi move forward to confront him. One clone trooper takes pot shots at the Man in Black. Myself and the other Clone Commando set charges on the jammer and turrets.
The Commando I helped to set charges tells us to move away and take cover from the blast. Detonated the charges. A chain of explosions we didn't expect sets the building crumbling from the top down. The man in black has a ship fly in which he jumps onto to get away. Our Consular starts hopping between falling pieces of building like fucking Spider-Man, while the Sentinel uses his saber to reenact Will Smith in I Am Robot. I lasso the unconscious Jedi still on the lift platform while one commando grappling hooks me as his brother does the same for him; him standing on a more stable, not yet crumbling portion of the roof, barely keeping us from falling over. Jedi fighters and LAATs fly in for the rescue, and we got away from the now destroyed building. End of session.
Not to nitpick your story, but the part about the Dark Jedi reflecting your shot straight into the Jedi seems weird. He Saber Reflected an entire crit plus Ranger's Quarry? Either he gave that Dark Jedi a special deflect to screw you or you rolled badly on the damage. Odd o.o
Sounds like a good sesh, sorry if I came off rude.
All good, I figured it was a crit on his roll to deflect. I'm not gonna push it, challenging bosses are supposed to be stupid imo
Fa sho, nothing says DM cant just give enemies special powers different from players. That definitely would've made me question ever shooting at a Dark Jedi ever again though lmao
Some of my favorite moments have come from random things I've thrown in without much rhyme or reason:
Party took a bounty contract on Coruscant, assassinating a local politician who owed money. Found a necklace on him with a weird inscription. Two months of sessions later, found someone passed out who was wearing an identical necklace. Their heads are spinning trying to figure out what it means!
Party found a ship that had been picked apart by Jawas in the Jundland Wastes. Couple sessions later, the party's ship was left unattended for a short time and when they returned their ship was also picked clean by Jawas. Initially they were upset at me, but when explaining how they missed the foreshadowing they thought it was pretty neat (gave them a chance to get the ship put back together).
Both of these instances grew out of things I just threw in for flavoring, but when writing later I thought "Well, maybe I can draw back to these seemingly overlooked details."
As a GM, do you keep a written record of everything that takes place in your sessions?
not every fine detail, but after each session I write a one paragraph recap of what happened. From my experience, Google Docs are a great resource
Our fighter failed several times in a row to deceive groups of people on a ship info thinking that we were crew members. Every time he failed our consular had to fry them with lightning before moving on. I witnessed the whole thing whilst hiding in a box being carried by my droid companion.
The same droid companion had also been quite useless for most of the sessions as he always seemed to get bad rolls. But during one combat encounter, something seemed to change within him. He rolled a bunch of nat 20s and utterly fried everyone we were fighting. It was fun to see him finally become useful in combat.
i was playing a sentinel padawan in a cw campaign, at one point we fought some magna guard droids and we were messing them up pretty badly (to our surprise). at one point I had a magna guard (MG) cornered and so he was going to attempt to jump over me and hit my teammate who was 20ft away on 4 hp. I knew what the MG was going to do so of course I shouted out "Don't try it droid!" to which he responded "You underestimate my programming." and so of course i got the opportunity attack, rolled a nat 20, and promptly sliced his legs and hand off.
Session 0,(I'm DMing) my players were getting they're gear, I said this was basically them going on a shopping spree, the wookiee engineer decides to pull off a scheme when they hear me say "gift card". He buys a gift card and then he gets money from his "rewards plan". I let this happen, since he explained it pretty well. He proceeds to do this enough times to the point where he can buy a X-Wing! I new I would love this group!
I gave our Mandalorian a grand for liquor and food. He comes back to the ship with nine hundred credits worth of chocolate milk and four bottles of whiskey.
pointing to milk This is the whey.
