Did you guys vote for Gary Johnson or Trump?

Johnson was more ideologically aligned, obviously, but he was a far longer shot to win the presidency.

I’m interested in whether you guys voted ideologically purely, with Johnson, or Pragmatically, with Trump

I didn’t vote. I don’t give legitimacy to this system

Legolas170OP•

That just sounds like an excuse not to vote

6
TheGenericLee•

Or an excuse to not give a bullshit system, none of us believe in, more legitimacy than it deserves

Legolas170OP•

You refusing to vote does nothing to forward your cause

2
TheGenericLee•

And voting for a candidate for the system does? Voting puts people in charge supporting the state which would make you a statist would it not?

I think I won't vote for the president again, because of the previous comment.

Johnson. He was the only presidential candidate with any level of concern for the debt and any desire to reduce military interventions. Plus he seems to be an human with a conscience instead of near-caricatures of the businessman or career politician. Also, Trump’s views on immigration were so far out of line with mine that I will never vote for him.

Yeah Johnson, although the perfect candidate doesn't really exist.

Johnson. I find it difficult to vote pragmatically, something just doesn’t “feel” right. So basically....I cast the “throw away vote” every time. I get the thought process though.

You didn’t throw away your vote. You have a voice no matter what anyone tells you.

Johnson.

Johnson. A Democrat had no chance of winning my state, so my vote was pointless anyways.

Johnson, I vote for the candidate that most aligns with my ideals. People that use the whole don't want to waste my vote trope are often posers. They say that to avoid social stigma or having to debate ideals. Unfortunately also why a third party can't get enough traction to make a dent. If you are.a free American voting it should be for the candidate you want not the one your willing to deal with or lesser of two evils bullshit.

Johnson was ideologically pure????

NOTA

Absolutely fucking neither.

I am considering spending the effort to find out what would be required to vote for Jacob Hornberger, though. That man is the real deal. Not that I think he can win, but just having him getting out there and talking to people has the potential to grow the movement a lot.

Also... did you say Johnson was ideologically pure?

Trump. First candidate to get me to vote R instead of Libertarian.

Seeing Johnson actually get asked questions by the media because they hated Trump so much revealed how absolutely incompetent he was.

I’m voting for Trump in 2020.

I voted for gay jay in 2012 and 2016. I mean when the options are socialist, socialist, socialist, mercantilist, mercantilist, felonious hag, and token soft-mercantilist I'll vote for the only Capitalist who was on the ballot.

My first disqualification for a person is that their name is printed on a ballot. I will not vote for already printed names.

I wrote in John McAfee. Man, he kinda came unhinged lately. Well, moreso

No.

I consider myself a liberal and I've voted Johnson in the past two elections. More as a protest vote since he had no chance of winning. I just want a president who isn't hell bent on being the world police. Trump seemed to fit that during the elections but I couldn't bring myself to vote for someone so seemingly idiotic.

Johnson was more ideologically aligned

You think Gary "Bake the Cake" Johnson is ideologically aligned? He's a joke. I didn't vote.

ReformedTroller•

I don't make the effort to vote just so I can pick out presidents; you make a bigger impact when you vote on the propositions. Anyway, Johnson, because picking a party you hate because they may win is as retarded as expecting a libertarian to win, imo. Unless you're in a swing state and the economic issues are a concern; then mayyyyybe.

I wrote someone in, forget who. If I were forced to go back in time and vote for someone, in retrospect I think I would actually choose Trump. Johnson's choice of Bill fucking Weld as a running mate is unforgivable. Trump is pretty bad but at least he and Pence don't embrace literally every possible kind of authoritarianism. Trump also doesn't discredit libertarianism, he discredits conservatism and its hypocrisy.
