Finally made it to 3200 LY. I’m so tired of installing/dismantling Hyperdrive mods! Has a little more room to grow but I think I’m good.

Looks like a tie fighter almost
I've never even seen wing types like that before. Cool as heck though, and on one of my favorite ship body types!
3200???? I had no idea. Looks like I need to scrap a ship and start hunting for a new explorer.
Dude I have played in like a year and I decided to play today, Jesus Christ everyone is different. I see that I can upgrade ships now. What’s exactly does that do?
You can upgrade the class (C, B, A, S) for nanites, expect to spend at least 50,000 to get to S class. You can buy inventory and technology slots for money, expect to spend at least a billion to get a ship maxed out on cargo space.
My god
We wanted a money sink... we got a money sink.
I do have an s class ship that I found back in like March. The thing has this stupid tall fin on its top
If you scrap a ship, you usually get an upgrade module which you can then use for a free cargo slot upgrade in another ship. Mass scrapping is one way to go if you don't want to go through the effort to set up (or find) a mass farming operation to buy the slots outright. Note that you will need some funding if you go this route, since you generally lose a little money scrapping a ship unless you stick to crashed/salvaged ships.
wait why are you installing and dismantling them?
Because each ship has its own sequence of hyperdrive mod values, so to get high value ones you need to just keep installing mods until you get high value ones.

From the testing I did, the sequence was static... but you could install a C-class module to move the sequence along. So if my S-class modules would install as +200, +233, +250, i would reload and install two C’s and then the S. And dismantle the C’s. Eventually I got tired of that though and I had a good supply of nanites, so I would just buy every hyperdrive module I found and install it, then dismantle it if it sucked. I may have been doing it wrong but that was the method that annoyed me the least.

Some stats per upgrade are random within a set %, depending on class, not all upgrades give the same stats even if they're the same class.
Getting all 6 S-Class upgrades doesn't mean the stats are actually maxed out, unless the stats are all as high as possible per upgrade.
So does the name “explorer” actually mean they get the most range?
It does. After Synthesis they buffed the fighters, explorers, and haulers to have the highest damage, range, and shields respectively.
Thanks, now I’m mad I broke down 2 S class explorers I had.
You have the system info where you found this bad boy?
Yep! This is it but there are many like it if you search the NMSCoordinateExchange for “blue white explorer” ;)
My best ship looks just like that, it's Onbetsu of the Stars
That's a good looking explorer. I have a similar one that has the more metallic paint job but with the same blue on the wing tips.
Nice... I like the chrome ones, but my fleet is PSVR themed. So white with black and blue highlights.

Ranges from 201 to 249.
Max bonus on an explorer is like 80-ish percent.
Max range is around 3400 I believe.

Hence the reason I said max..

I posted it in another comment but the core jump range is 179.1 (I believe 180 is now the max) on this ship. I have three 249 LY modules and three 250’s. I very much doubt you could get to 4000. I could see 3400 if everything was maxed.

When 2.24 launched Xaine’s World had a breakdown of all of the changes to class bonuses. You might be interested in that. It’s what I used when I was ship shopping after that patch.

Mass farming? Man things have changed. You can find these things?
Wait... this ship is described as T2 in the Coordinate Exchange. I thought Tier affected max Hyperdrive range, like Class did. Does Tier not matter for jumping??

As far as I know the only thing that affects hyperdrive range is class in freighters and ship category. I believe all explorers can have the same max jump range.
But yes it’s a T2. And I think that only affects the storage space.
Wow... This expands my options for a jumping ship. Especially now that you can buy extra storage!
AWESOME! Congratulations. (I am stalled at 2960, and playing hyperdrive module treasure hunt.)
I sat at a trading post for a long time waiting for this ship. The core jump distance is 179.1. But I also have three 249 and three 250 LY modules in there.
You mean 250? I installed 70 c class yesterday to get max boost pulse engine. Am about to do the same as you with hyperdrive upgrades. Logged all the results in an excel sheet, loaded and saved 100 times.
May i see your setup though? I'd like to see how you made it there. (Rn my explorer is stuck at 2640ly, there's a lot of room to do better with the right bonuses and probably have to buy a new ship for the base bonus).
Yeah sorry. Edited. I’m at a brewery. I’ll send you the setup when I get home.
Okay here you go. It doesn’t really seem to matter which modules are where (as far as the purchased ones go)... I tried mixing and matching 249’s and 250’s and nothing changed. The indium/emeril/cadmium drive placements are also interchangeable. But this seems to be the best place for them generally.

I thought the max core jump distance was 164?
They changed the ships after Synthesis so the exotics weren’t better than each of the specialized ships. So I think the max explorer base distance is now 180.
I’ve got an exotic with a 600 something base core jump. I’ll find a screenshot. I’m only at about 1600ly distance but I don’t have my technology tab filled properly yet
Well, that answers my question... I have a ship with a 179.2 core and was wondering if it was possible to get to 3200 and what it would take. I am currently sitting at 3147.7...
