Moving to Bay Area. Advice?
So I've decided I'm going to move to the Bay Area this Spring. Im a single, late 20's, Unix admin dude from Cleveland who likes to party. I've been to San Francisco twice before and love it.
Not sure exactly where in the Bay Area I want to go though. The city or the suburbs? SF or San Jose?
I would like to have easy access to the city via public transportation if Im not actually living downtown.
What are BA reddit's thoughts? Im sure there are many details I havent taken into account so any advice is appreciated. What are some of the things I should consider that I might not have thought of, being from out of town?
Thanks!
EDIT: Extra info about me I replied with below
I have a job currently, but not one in California yet. I have my resume posted online and have gotten a good response, just not ready to make the move for a couple months.
I have a motorcycle and a car. Will probably sell the car and buy a new one in Cali. Taking the bike with. Im fairly frugal, but I like nice things. I have a decent amount of savings, so I wouldn't say I have a budget per se, but Im obsessive about getting a good value for the money I spend.
As for parties, I pretty much just go out drinking with friends. I enjoy hitting up interesting bars - cute girls are always a plus, but I'm not much of a clubber/dancer. I like good whisk(e)y, especially single malt scotch, and good herb. Occasionally something else.
I listen to alot of classic rock,(post)metal,electronic/psytrance stuff.
You could say I'm sort of a hippie-libertarian-deist-biker-nerd type.
