Apparently she was there on a university research field trip where she visited every major candidate to collect data. My initial reaction was, why even say yes to being asked to sit there, till my wife caused me a self crit moment by saying "Because she's a woman, and you tend to just get swept along".

It's tough because I also don't want to strip her of agency by assuming she just couldn't say no but really didn't want to do it. But she did say it was tokenism so that probably answers that.
