Other Targaryens who could have believed themselves TPTWP/AA (Spoilers Extended)
In the series several characters believe themselves to be The Prince that was Promised (Rhaegar, Stannis, Euron) or believe someone close to them (Aegon, etc.) are TPTWP or Azor Ahai.
In this post I wanted to discuss some possible instances in which other Targaryens besides Rhaegar believed themselves to be The Prince that was Promised and/or Azor Ahai as well
#Aegon I (The Conqueror)
In this video, GRRM mentions fans speculating about Aegon the Conqueror decided to unify Westeros because he knew of the danger that lurks in the North.
And while he did not confirm it, it is interesting to note that he brought it up while promoting Fire and Blood.
That said it remains possible that Aegon saw himself and his sisterwives as the "three heads of the dragon"
#Maegor the Cruel
-
Son of Visenya (dabbler in magic, black arts)
-
Took more than 1 wife (even three brides at once, "The Black Brides")
-
After the Trial of Seven he was "dead" for 30 days before Tyanna of the Tower "healed him" (Born Again)
#Daemon Blackfyre
-
Tried to take two wives (three heads of the dragon) in Rohanne of Tyrosh and Daenerys
-
Legitimized by Aegon the Unworthy (Born again)
This is about Daemon II (but it still speaks):
"There have always been Targaryens who dreamed of things to come, since long before the Conquest," Bloodraven said, "so we should not be surprised if from time to time a Blackfyre displays the gift as well. Daemon dreamed that a dragon would be born at Whitewalls, and it was. The fool just got the color wrong." -The Mystery Knight
There are numerous other examples of Targaryens "dabbling in the higher mysteries" and their knowledge of The Prince that was Promised/Battle for the Dawn goes back some time.
TLDR: I just listed a couple examples, but its quite possible that numerous Targaryen kings/pretenders have thought themselves to be TPTWP/AA.
