I had both legs amputated and walked 87 miles home from the hospital with my newborn triplets while I was on crutches. I had a minor heart attack on the way home but I had to get to work as a mountaineer, so there was no time for medical treatment. My husband didn’t even phone me to see if I was ok because I’m a grown up obvs.
Sounds like a keeper hun. Hugz xxx
God forbid someone should want and expect practical and emotional support from the person who purports to love them.
What they need according to Ms Pavlova is a bit of good old-fashioned Dunkirk spirit and resilience. Twat.
My OH works away and I think you do become really hardened to it, but I also try hard to remember that that isn't other people's reality and endeavour to not be a twat about it. Competitive misery is never needed.
This. I'm a single parent, but I hate the way some Mumsnetters use the existence of single parents to beat women with lazy, uninvolved husbands over the head. "YABU to complain that your DH refused to look after the kids for half an hour when you had a migraine, a kidney infection and two broken limbs. If you were a single parent, you'd just have to deal with it". Just because I'm parenting alone, doesn't mean that all women have to put up with the lowest common denominator level of support.
Oh yes, see also child support - my ex gives me £3.50 and a packet of Frazzles every third month so why should you get £23.
Should be grateful you get anything at all, doncha know.
Also, why did you have a child with him, hmm? And why don't you get one of those many well paying jobs that fits around school hours? Are you getting tax credits? Why did you have children you can't afford etc etc etc ad nauseum.
Yes, this! Some of them seem to think a man doing the bare minimum to support his family is a heroically wonderful partner and dad.
That said, being on one's own is preferable to having an awful partner who does feck all and actually makes your life harder.
MN bloody love competitive misery. Not to mention the competitive cool wives who like to pretend they wouldn't be bothered by things in real life they would
Mine used to. You do get used to being self sufficient but it’s so much better when you don’t have to be.
They are far from the only arseholes on that thread - really attracted the twats for some reason.
True, they are just the two who particularly stood out. It's equal opportunities cuntiness.
Wow, I'm actually sitting open-mouthed reading that. Some of those posts are vile.
Everyone saying “oh it’s nothing” as if they even know what it is. And totally missing the fact that he had made a promise to her then unilaterally decided he didn’t have to keep it. I’d be pissed off no matter what we were supposed to be doing.
In my world there would have been a discussion to see if it would be ok or not.
The whole thread is peak Mumsnet.
Jesus wept, the lack of compassion is astonishing. A letz procedure isn't like having a pedicure. It's uncomfortable and undignified and bloody scary. Poor woman. I'd want DH with me too (even though he'd spend the time scrolling through football news on his phone - I know, I should LTB).
LLETZ means LARGE loop EXCISION of the transformation zone. It's cutting a cone-shaped chunk out of the cervix, not scraping a couple of cells.
Those who don't know what they are talking about should STFU.
It's also associated with later miscarriage and 'incompetent' cervix. Lovely term that is.
Yes, definitely its hilarious and a bit wrong too, not for the easily offended!
Some of the comments on that thread ... nope I have no words.
Presumably dear old CherryP would have the procedure on the kitchen table courtesy of her very dear friend the surgeon who would, fortuitously, have popped round with a jar of last year's marrow chutney!
Then all the neighbours would have stood up and clapped.
Before performing a celebratory Morris dance in her honour! :D
And then it goes full Wicker Man :)
It's an intriguing image isn't it! :D
Don’t forget the doctor daughter of Christmas ferry home fame.
Have you ever listened to Dear Joan and Jericha podcasts? Right up CherryP street!
Never have - worth a look?
