How does the addiction potential of benzos compare to alcohol?

I occasionally use Xanax as an Alcohol substitute, something to take the edge off when I'm going out and make me social. I do 1mg of Xanax maybe once a week at most. I sometimes drink on top of this too but never get too fucked up, don't think I've ever been in any danger. Is this level concerning at all? I ran out about a month ago and have been considering getting some more. How addictive is Xanax compared to Alcohol?

Work on the same receptors so not a good idea to take both for a long time. IMO stick with just drinking, don't add benzos to the mix cause then it gets addicting without you even knowing.

Benzos kill my anxiety pretty much altogether and the effects tend to last longer than alcohol which is why i prefer them. Mixing the two however, can be a dangerous combo. Had a fair few blackouts as a result.

Alcohol lowers my inhibitions too so I generally end up taking more benzos then I originally planned. Benzo withdrawal is horrendous also, I quit over more than six months ago and I still don't feel right.
