I mean - I'm kind of with the DH here tbh! My Dad - 80s - does get obsessed with stuff to the point of inducing rage. Actually the boiler is one of his pet projects as well! Last week it was because he couldn't find his - wait for it - Sony Walkman. Yes really. Hadn't been used since the mid 1980s and he certainly didn't want to use it last week either. I think I may have muttered something under my breath along the lines of 'fucking mental'. :D :D

My dad's not even 60 and he gets just like this. I love him but I certainly couldn't live with him.

A Walkman!! I remember having to rip my school blazer pocket to fit one in it 😁😁

My FIL's like this. His most infuriating obsession is with bottled sauces and keeping them in the fridge. Every fucking time he's round our house, he moans that we don't keep sauce in the fridge, that we'll all get listeria because we won't listen to his wisdom etc. I asked what the bloody hell he does in pubs and restaurants then, where practically NONE of them keep it in the bastard fridge, and he starts spluttering and grumbling.

I'm getting annoyed just typing it 😂

I'm feeling your agony just reading it. My Dad keeps biscuits in the fridge. In silver foil. With elastic bands round them. Like - the fucking biscuits would survive a nuclear apocalypse! There'd be no fucker to eat them but what the hell - they'd be safe!

😳😳 I just... I mean... WHAT? I honestly canNOT get my head around his reasoning there!

No. That's because there is no reason for it. I've tried asking and I've tried telling him it does nothing to improve the taste or texture of his biscuits. Waste of time. I have to just accept that in time this too will be me! :D

Ikwym. My dad was the world champion of worry warts and even more so as he got older. Only read some of the thread and I get what the OP is saying, but some posters definitely thrive on the 'holier than thou' approach... LTB coming right up, I would say.
