Does anyone else have a hard time moving on from a school once they build it up?

I’m in my 9th season with Purdue and for the last 2 or 3 seasons I keep thinking “ok, I should really leave after this season because I’m becoming too much of a powerhouse” and then I sign that one recruit that makes me think “oh shit but I can’t just walk out and miss out on him”. I did this after building up New Mexico State as well. I know it’s time to move on to a new challenge (and definitely make recruiting harder for myself, which I’ve gotten some ideas from this sub on) but I get oddly sentimental about teams that I have no real connection to. Anyone in the same boat or is it just me?

I really start to get attached to my players so yes, I'm in the same boat

Just started my 6th season with FAU and I am coming off of a 30 game win streak and their first national title. I want to move on but I told myself just one more year. Do it back to back. I just don’t know what team to pick next

Yeah, I usually can't move on. I start another dynasty if I'm ready to move on and save that one so I can come back to it if I want. It also kind of immortalizes it. For me, half the fun is building the team.

I limit my roster size to 52, set a self-imposed restriction to never redshirt a player, and if I'm up by 3 scores in the 4 I sub in the bottom of my roster. So I basically play with all guys on my team each season and it means a lot more when you see a player who you used to use in garbage time as a freshman, become a contributor as a sophomore/junior, and then carry your team as a senior. I just enjoy that more than not seeing a guy until he's a junior or senior starter because you have so much depth.

Why? Guess Nick Saban should've left Bama after the 1st championship cause it was the right thing to do.

I'm in my third year of a San Diego State rebuilder and planned on leaving after this year to be OC at a larger school. Then I signed a 5*ATH that's 78ovr with 94 speed, 93 acc and I can plug him in at QB, HB, WR, CB, or S. I also got commits from 2 WR that are over 6'4. I can't possibly leave now.

I still miss my nasty RB duo at UGA. Had a stud well rounded back paired with a converted WR for passing downs. But sometimes you gotta move on

It’s so hard to leave. I went back to follow the stats of my old players after every game they played. It was always a bittersweet experience. For example, I recently left Maryland after leading them to a top 5 season.

I had a defensive end who had a down year the season I left. He was an All-American with like 15 sacks his sophomore year but didn’t come anywhere close to those numbers his junior year. After I left he got even worse. I don’t even think he was drafted (despite being something like a 93/94 overall). I always think about whether I could’ve made him better if I stayed.

On the other hand, I had a Kyler Murray clone as QB at Maryland (5’10, 97 arm strength, 95 speed). He was so good, but he threw a ton of interceptions. I tend to throw more picks than the average guy but even when I simmed the offense the back half of my last season he still averaged a pick a game. After I leave, he pulls it all together for a spectacular senior season. He throws for 31 touchdowns, runs for eight more, and has just four picks all season. He loses the Heisman by five votes.

Did a 10 year offline dynasty with MTSU, won like 6 titles. Decided to transition to a power 5 team in Alabama, since I’m a Bama fan irl. Didn’t last 3 games before I regretted what I had done and what I had built at MTSU 😭

The only reason I want to leave is to see how dominant they are without me and really soak up how much of a force I built
